And there were very few weapons with green sharpness by the time you fight garuga (he was a hidden 3* urgent).

Also from same game, there was also a Diablos with a broken horn, which many dubbed "Demon King Diablos", jump forward to MHGen/GU, we got Bloodbath Diablos, a Diablos with irregular growth in one of its broken horn, Its initial English name was even called "Massacre Demon Diablos"

Yeah, to be fair that's a pretty common move... It does feel unfair, but you really need to focus on staying away from the front of the monster. I think even Kut-ku does that, and Rathalos/ian definitely do that. It's definitely messed me up when I first started playing, just takes some getting used to. Funny how the monster whos whole thing is charging (monoblos/diablos) has a telegraph for its charge, but other ones don't... lol

To my bow bros: I managed to defeat Garuga using the following items: Set: Full Daimyo, and Daimyo warbow Items: Potions Steak Paintballs Power coatings Flashbombs Armor seeds Power seeds Shock trap Trang bomb Eat a steak, buff up, and buckle up. So basically, at the entrance I flashed him so I can burst him down with my bow. If you ever do this and ran out of flashbombs, I recommend staying somewhat in front of it but not really. Stay at an angle, this ensures that you're somewhat safe from the fireballs because he needs to face you before attacking and you're also hitting it's head. The openings it might show is enough for 1-2 lvl 2 charges (I specifically go for level 2 charges because it's quick and garuga is also quite nimble for a monster), go for 3 attacks and you're at risk. This is because there's a chance that it might roar, if you're too close the roar can potentially give it an opening to secure a fireball hit. Be on your toes, always. Garuga is quick, one wrong move and your hp will disappear. As a gunner, I personally think that capturing is pretty much the main goal instead of slaying it (with the exceptions of elder dragons). Because, gunners do little damage compared to blademasters, in exchange for risk. Keeping the fight longer as a gunner may lessen the chances of success. Also, garuga is a giant pussy. Even my palico, who is a literal cat, can face a tigrex with ease. (I like his design tho)

I've reached 4 star quests on village quests thanks to the blangoga guide, although I used bow I watched some of the other high rank guides like the basarios/gravios guide where you did the sleep bombing. Yeah, it's a pretty good set, if you farm Hornetaurs for their heads, you can get 3 earplug jewels and get HGE early on as well. It wont protect from the damage of Tigrex's Roar if you're too close, but it'll stop you from flinching from it at least.

I made an oopsie saying that Garuga's peck at 2:47 was a poison attack, it's not, it's raw. I duplicate the text from one attack to another so that all of the texts are shown in the same place in the video and is consistent, in this case I changed the attack value after I copied it, but not the damage type. oops. While I'm at it, at around 5:00 I say I don't recommend using flash bombs. This is true, but only for melee. It's usually pretty great if you're using a bow or bowgun, since Garuga (usually) doesn't move while flashed, giving you a LONG TIME (30 seconds!!!!) to just unload on the poor thing. Otherwise, if you're using a melee weapon, your mileage will vary. There's probably a few other errors throughout the video as well, my bad.

The poisonous tail spin only come into play when you fight a Scarred Garuga. The normal ones tail spin no matter what rank can’t inflict poison unless he does the flip while the scarred one can poison you with a tail spin as well as the flip. Iam pretty sure they added the poison tail spin to normal Garuga in later games tho

Yeah I usually go for the tail first thing, it reduces the range of attacks by so much, it's pretty nice. I feel like Kut-ku also has instant charges? Just try to stay away from the front of them if you can 😖😖😖 It is kinda bs, but it's somewhat avoidable. This is of course talking about low rank, lol, high and G rank are probably on some bullshit.

If you want to make the Garuga armor set you'll need Garuga Wings which can be obtained as a reward from, well, breaking its wings. They aren't all that easy to hit however, unless you KO or trip it. Personally, I find Hammer to be the best choice for this since its legs have tough parts that can make you bounce unless you have a high enough sharpness level (which at this point in the game you probably don't). With a bit of practice, you should easily be able to get two stuns with the Hammer. This allows you to focus its right wing when it's downed. Thankfully, its wings take quite a bit of damage from impact type weapons too so it shouldn't take you long to break it. You'll need five wings for the entire armor set which can be a bit of a hassle to farm but the armor is well worth it: Earplugs and Sharp Sword are great skills.

How to farm Garuga: Step 1: get yourself good hammer, step 2: hit only Garuga's head with max charged blow, step 3: when it's stunned you can do triple pound on it's head TWICE, step 4: after 3 stuns it's ready to capture. After some practice it takes around 5 minutes to capture the monster. When it's down you can hit other parts, like wings if you need parts. Garuga set is really good in low rank and garuga weapons are very good in high rank. :)

Iodrome set is a really underrated defensive option for monsters that have fire and poison (Yian Garuga, Rathian, Rathalos, Basarios, not so much Congalala), especially if you have a slower weapon type and are getting punished a lot.

Unfortunately it also has way less defense than the hermitaur set. I'm pretty sure the fire resistance wouldn't do that much better, and even if it did, you'll still take more damage from some other attacks, the fireballs should be easy enough to avoid or block for even the slowest weapon classes, though I understand you can easily get into positions where avoiding usually easy to avoid things becomes extremely difficult or impossible, like getting stuck in a corner, you should try to figure out how to prevent those situations as much as possible. Poison negation is nice, for sure, but if you cut the tail off asap (rip hammer/hunting horn/bows/etc.) that shouldn't ever really be a problem. I tried to get hit by the backflip after cutting the tail off, and it just couldn't reach me, you have to like, try to get hit by it after that. Though if you can't/don't cut the tail off, this fight is a lot harder than it could be for sure.

Hermitaur just has very good defense. If you feel like you want to use something with attack boosts or something instead, feel free to do that, but my recommendations will tend to favor higher defense and skills that deal with problems that a monster might give you, if possible.

Found it easy to play with a great sword on this guy.... Breaking parts and such (on the lower levels), u could finish him up in a matter of minutes with the right GS...But once u go for the high rank, his movements just speed up by ×5.... Found a long sword useful at that time...Not that hard, but super annoying 😵😦

Yeah, Greatsword is a great weapon, it's "slow" but usually doesn't have too much trouble with fast enemies (usually) if you can position yourself correctly.

Garuga is weakest to water, at this point in the game there aren't very many good elemental weapons in general, but especially for Greatswords in particular, you'll almost always want to go for raw damage, kzbin.info/www/bejne/j5DdgaSHgLB4fpY Ravager Blade+ works pretty well, I'd recommend it because it does more damage and has a lot more green sharpness, though GS has less trouble with sharpness than weapons that hit more often like SNS and DB, still, it helps a bit.

I don't actually know, but from what I can tell you'll need Fatalis Webbings, so, if you didn't get any of those, it wont show up in the list of gear, in a similar way, I can make all of Tigrex' armor, except the helmet, it's not in the list, because I didn't get a Tigrex Skull Shell yet. But I'm not really at that point in the game, and there doesn't seem to be too much info online, so, sorry :/

Well, IMO the controls are better with an actual controller, and the iOS version adds a much needed lock on function, but PPSSPP on the phone isn't bad, you can even play online with people through that, I think.

I think I had a pretty good time of it, broke all of the parts that I could, it was similar enough to Kut-ku (which I had pretty decent at that point) and I learned the few new moves pretty quickly. It helped set me up for Rathalos/ian very nicely. This was a very long time ago though lol, so I could just be remembering wrong.

So Yian Garuga has some of Rathian's moves. I fought him many years ago but I don't remember it. Just a thought tho. The Velocipreys hate Rathian. It's obvious since those pests always foil my plan to trap Rathian. So when they see Yian Garuga, they'll probably be like, "Yo wtf. Rathian is different?"

1. The monster focuses on me which makes it more consistent and predictable 2. I use a relatively minimal loadout, and if you want to bring something that I didn't, such as a felyne comrade, then feel free to.

i thought easiest fight with just great sword... i messed up entirely and losing a lot guild rank points.... nice... but you can lure and find area that above than yian garuga like cliff or mounting and use low bow gun or bow but... im not sure which map level has one.... but you find out soon

Nice! Maybe try and look at it as you just getting better at the fight, as much as you can, rather than just farming it for materials. If you can optimize your strategy and get better and better, it'll be less painful and scary, you get a bunch of materials, and next time you want to fight Garuga you'll maybe have a better time :)

I hate fighting Yian Garuda in the swamps. I tend to get distracted by the colour of the surrounding and more often than not got myself sneak attacked by the Red Stripe Brigade. Goddamn poison man. Hate them. It's EVERYWHERE! ... At least it's not the desert. Now THAT gets everywhere.
