Wind press is a bitch in FU. You need 20 points to be immune to everything, and not all monsters have winds that strong (Teo/Chameleos/Kushala are the ones I can remember that have Dragon Wind). Wind resistance is nice and all, but you shouldn't bother with it unless you have a set to farm an elder dragon. Even if that, only Kushala and maybe Chameleos' WP is annoying

Poison was good for this fight, the poison battle axe helped me beat Kushala as the poison weakened his wind knock back ability, seemed to work better than dragon weapons just for the anti knock back

Watching your videos inspired me to finally check out Freedom unite! I played a bit of the iso port but just couldn't get past those controls. I'm new to ppsspp so I was wondering what Graphic's setting you'd recommend. If any at all

It's a really good game! 🙂 I'd say go into game and start changing settings to see what they do, if you're on pc you can change the settings while the game is running from the top of the window, "Game settings>Rendering resolution" etc. I have mine set to 3x rendering resolution, 3x texture scaling, and Supersampling AA as the Postprocessing shader. I think those will do the most, but feel free to tweak those and mess with other things as well.

Nice guide. It a bit weird to see an elder dragon this early after you just got done fighting tiggy but that mhfu for you. Weird ass quest line ups. The only thing I really would've added is the showing of getting of lvl 3 charges in between his wind blasts but the timing is really tight.

If you look at the quest lines for the games things tend to escalate a bit rapidly, when I was first playing the game it took me so long for each monster, it was an adventure, a journey, now when I play I'm like "Oh shit, I'm at Tigrex already?" lol, I guess they wanted to (and imo did) strike a balance between slow enough for new players but fast enough for veterans to get to the late game pretty quickly if they wanted. Especially in the guild hall.

@@zed499 Good choice, swaxe is fun. Save axe mode for whenever you can't reach a tail, or when a monster is down so you can spend all your stamina (I don't know the exact numbers for the infinite swing [Triangle + Circle -> Circle to begin the infinite] and if it's better than sword mode'd damage output). Besides that, sword will always trump axe in terms of damage, blame capcom for making the sword so good.

Definitely, the armor I use in the video is Garuga Mask, and the rest is Tigrex, you get Earplugs which is very useful.

Sorry but I'm not super sure. My go to weapon for Kushala is Greatsword both because of the range as well as the damage. Hammer may be too short range and you could be knocked around by his wind aura, but I can't say for sure. Good luck!

Is it possible to kill this bastard during first encounter? This guy was so infuriating to fight against, his head is so annoying to hit because of constant flailing and claw attacks when flashed, the wind barrier in general was a total ass and if you haven't managed to stagger or break the head as the poison fades away then it activates the barrier all over again(sometimes, even earlier than expected). Seriously, if it weren't for this guide then i wouldn't be able to fight against this guy. The amount of HP was absurd, i even had a Rathalos armor set + Diablos Greatsword just to make sure i can kill him in one try but at best i just managed to make it flee. It's amazing that you managed to clear it with that equipment.

Yes. If you're not using a long enough weapon to hit his head and/or can't poison him consistently, then yeah it's going to be an awful time honestly :( I've fought him with LS with some success as well. (the nekoht one in particular with the g-rank moveset) I'm glad I was hopefully able to help you out :) Even if Kushala has the wind aura, you can technically hit his head without being blown back, but it takes pretty good positioning and isn't possible with weapons that are too short. The HP value is high, but that's kinda because they expect you to fight him multiple times, and because it's an Elder Dragon. With some practice and good equipment, I'm sure you'll be able to clear him in one run 🙂

Haha, that's fair, when I first played SNS felt too weak and GS felt too slow, tbh GS is a pretty fast weapon class once you figure it out, but anyways, this guide is extremely useful for all points in the game and I use it all the time, you should bookmark it: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/psp/943356-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/faqs/57283 From that guide, assuming you're fighting Kushala in the village elder quests, in 4★, honestly probably Eager Cleaver? You're bound to have one of those as a LS user anyways, it's a good weapon, and Kushala's weak to thunder. Otherwise... The Monoblos Scythe or Black Katana Mk.II I suppose, but I'd just go for the Eager Cleaver.

Can hammer charge resist to his wind aura? I mean, most of the wind that created from a monster flew up against you, hammer charge doesn't get effected

No, you will get knocked down by his wind aura, with the Greatsword too. To negate his wind aura you'll need "Dragon Wind Breaker," which is the Wind Press skill at +20 His wind isn't a "Low" wind pressure or "High" wind pressure, it's "Dragon" wind pressure, since that's his Elder Dragon thing. I would've answered a bit earlier but I was just now able to test it out lol.

You can't get yian garuga armor before killing kushala in the 4 stars village quest, right? I'm suffering right now with my blangonga/ceanataur armor, even w/upgrades. The wind aura and roars make this fight so difficult I swear.

Kushala Daora is an optional fight, Yian Garuga unlocks in 4 star as long as you've slain at least 10 yian kut-ku

I'd say just keep at it, you'll get better as you keep doing things, and sometimes tbh you just get unlucky, don't feel too bad about it. There's a lot of skills being used in this hunt (such as aiming flash bombs), and you'll get better with all of them as you play more 🙂 Also, injuring an elder dragon isn't a failure :D You kinda get more materials that way too. Kinda.

That's fine! Feel free to ask as much as you need 🙂 This guide is extremely useful for finding what weapon to use at various points in the game, I use it all the time: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/psp/943356-monster-hunter-freedom-unite/faqs/57283 As for what poison weapons are available at this point: (I removed the bloating so the values are more relative to one another, otherwise I got these from that link) SnS: Deadly Poison - 120, 36 Poison DB: Snow Venom - 120, 8 Poison Lance: Naag Serpentblade - 140, 38 Poison GL: Grand Slam - 170, 24 Poison GS: Deadly Serpentblade - 150, 27 Poison Hammer: Shell Hammer - 140, 12 Poison LS: None HH: None Bows: Rapid: Hunter's Power Bow I - 160, 15 Poison (if all 3 shots hit, Rapid 3) Pierce: Blue Blade Bow I - 170, 20 Poison (if all 3 of the pierce hit, Pierce 3) Hopefully that's helpful and not too terribly confusing 😅 I'd recommend using the weapon type that you're most familiar with, GL has the highest raw and decent poison, but if you'd rather use DB's then do that, same with poison, a relatively high poison value is important, to build up the poison effect, but you shouldn't neglect your raw damage. Poison only affects how quickly (and how many times) you can apply poison, but once applied, you cannot add to the next application. I'd say it's important to find a balance between raw damage and poison amount, don't heavily favor one or the other, and if you do, favor raw instead. Keep in mind what I'm doing in this video as well, they give you poison throwing knives, which is enough to remove his wind aura, I then can focus on his head enough to keep him stunned (preventing him from activating his aura again) and then eventually breaking his head, removing his aura entirely. Poison isn't necessarily the answer to this fight, but, again, hopefully this has helped a little 😊

You know, there is something i have been wondering Which type of way to determine what weapon is good at dealing damage on monsters? The raw damage, The sharpness, or The element? Because some weapons are good because of their raw damage for killing Low rank and High rank but low sharpness(Example Akantor weapons) But some weapons are good because they have high sharpness(Example Copper Blagonga and Nargacuga weapons) Now at least i understand Gunner weapons just need at least a high attack stat, good elemental damage for bow, a good charge attack for bow, bullets LBG and HBG can use and rapid fire bullets LBG can use

I once farmed this grumpy old man's item using only a Rathalos Armor and Wyvern Blade Fire. Was a good achievement because i had to fight him for 20 times to get his horns and tails

Yep, I actually just made a video about another monster that also gets repelled at around 25 minutes, it's useful to know about if you're not able to kill it in one go, and some monsters, especially in the guild hall, it's unlikely that you can kill it in one round, and that's okay :) I'm glad you learned something! I'm more better at using bows than swords n I remember in my first encounter how I was mad cause he just froze me with his breath n also my arrows deflected back at me. After 2 or 3 trials I finally learned to hit in his head or tail n whenever he tries to fly just use the flash to bring him back on the ground n then use the poison arrows n some other powered up arrows n then finally defeated him.

This helped a lot my man! But I can't cut his tail and head. He's too fast for me! And that gust of wind really ticks me off! Btw I'm playing it on PPSSPP emulator so it's a little hard because sometimes the buttons freeze especially in my right dpad so I go round and round.

At the quest "The elder dragon of wind", but still, I'm not doing much damage, but I broke something in his head, because he wasn't able to use the wind gust anymore. Still not doing any damage, cause I can't kill him. He always flee😞 Edit: I also managed to win against Tigrex because of your video! I lost a lot of my potions on my first time but I managed to adapt to his movements when I'm grinding materials from him! Keep up the work fam! Looking forward on you playing MHW or MHGU!

I haven't tried it, but I'm pretty sure poison smoke bombs only work on bugs. You're given poison throwing knives at the start of this quest though, assuming you're doing the low rank version.

I mean, not really? You can't do charge attacks, and you'll most likely need to reposition a lot more since you can't reliably stagger him before he attacks. But the general idea should still work. Hit his head to stagger him to disable his wind aura, break his head to disable it.

Yeah that should be fine, you can use the shockwave from the super slam to stay a bit far away from his wind aura, just don't get too close or you'll get knocked down.

Assuming you're talking about the Village Elder Kushala, it randomly appears and disappears from the quest list, you just have to go do another quest and come back and see if it's there or not :/

Hey, you beat Khezu, you can beat Kushala! 😁 Tbh Kushala and Teostra are similar, you kinda spend the whole fight hitting his head to try and topple him, then when he's toppled, try and damage his head more to make it easier to do it again, rinse and repeat. Also, Kushala is an optional monster, unlike Khezu, so there's always that 😄
