My hubby recently shared with me something about matches that I thought would make your match boxes last longer, too. He told me to strike the matches across the little strip instead of down the length of the strip. They will light just as easily but you won't tear up the striking strip so much. It may last as long as the number of matches do. And it actually works! Love your videos. Always learn something from you and I love your cheerful delivery!

@@kp8174 I was going to say the same thing. Our local Ace Hardware has Strike Anywhere. I've bought a number of boxes. Also, stick matches need to be stored where it's DRY. I keep mine in a tupperware type container with a tight lid. Seems that high humidity shortens the life of stick matches.

You just made my day. You are always so upbeat😊🥰 This is a tip on storing matches. Years ago in my old farm house we did have a problem with mice every fall and spring. Rodents can chew on the matches and set the house on fire. I put my matches in a pint size canning jar. I cut the strip out of the box for striking the matches on the outside of the jar..I used large rubber bands to attach it. Storing them in jars also kept moisture off of them. I didn't have a food saver back then, I'm going to try vacuum sealing my new storage. Will have a sink full of water to throw the jar in in case vacuum sealing them causes them to light up🥴 Have a blessed day 🙏

The poultry season though was a little high to me and I'm seeing your small seasons and wonder why your not purchasing in the great containers, like the garlic salt container or the larger size that you get at Sam's Club. Your doing a great job stocking up, I've been keeping a stock myself but have yet to start canning but I did buy a camp stove to do it outside to keep from heating up the house and we live a little ways from shopping so almost have to keep food stores. Looking as your shelves reminds me of things I'm in need of replacing.

Don’t forget that expiration dates are not absolute. Food is good way past the expiration date. I shop at a local discount store and have for over 8 years. I seldom find an item that is no longer good past the date. Watch items that are high in oils, peanut butters, mayo, salad dressing, some chips, and oils themselves. Those items don’t last too long past the expiration date. The discount stores have awesome deals. For instance I get organic spices for $.99/ bottle. It’s like Christmas every Friday!
@MyCricketGirl4 жыл бұрын
K&P peanut butter lasts, just make sure every once in a while you flip it. Every few weeks I turn it upside down and then a few weeks later flip back right side up. Have been doing that for years and lasts a verrrrrrrry long time. 👍🏼

I tried the powdered butter today. I mixed up my regular biscuit/roll recipe and used the powdered butter in place of stick butter. It is wonderful. The taste is great. I used Augason Farms butter powder, from Amazon. My regular recipe calls for 2 sticks of butter that you mix in with the flour. There is a chart on the can. I added one cup of the powder and added the amount of water. My question was if I might need to add some oil, but I did not. Yum, the rolls are wonderful. By the way, I have added safety pins to my non-food storage. I have watched many prepping videos and so one has ever said to add safety pins. Sewing needles and thread will be needed, but safety pins could be very helpful. So, please share the safety pin idea to your viewers. Jo Ann, in Mississippi

I have utmost respect for you and I am so disappointed and disgusted to hear on another video that you have trolls that insult you. Just block them and move on, rise above. Love all the things you got on sale - great stuff. Really great idea to get that two burner camp stove. I have wanted a food dehydrator for years and finally splurged and got one the other day on sale. It’s a great way to preserve all kinds of food -fruit, vegetables, spaghetti sauce, jerky, meat. Great for camping but a great way to have food on hand that doesn’t take up much room. When I make soup, for instance, I just throw in some dehydrated veggies and when hydrated, they taste fresh as if they just car out of the garden. I’m not too familiar with canning but I’ll watch more of your videos. I’m a new Karma baby. Love you Granny Karma!

It’s like old school days here. I am loving your video. It’s my first time to your channel. I enjoyed you and all your tips very much. Growing up mama always said , you store away and save for a rainy day. With everything that has been happening in our world we have to prepare. Thinking on getting a dehydrator for meats. God bless you sister🙏

Very neat and organized! I live in an apartment but I've been prepping and canning. Thank you for sharing such valuable information. I plan to build a rocket stove because I do not like propane👀. I also bought a small camp stove that can be used with can heat or twig and a coffee percolator just in case the power goes out. I love you GK and may God bless beautiful you and your beautiful family.❤️💕
