There were lots of vehicle parts here it seems like. We belive that at 9.35 min we found a window frame for a Kubelwagen ? Let us know if that is right. Thanks for taking tie to watch and Greetings from us in WW2HistoryHunter.

WW2HistoryHunter yeah I was also thinking of a window frame as you can see it was supposed to be folded up or down against the hood. As you can see it has "scharnieren" (don't know the English word for that). The attachments look like points to attach a linen rooftop or something just as my friends 1950's DAF YA126 has. So what was the big 12 squared bolt for?? Nice finds again!

Enchanting scenery, so peaceful with the birds singing. Difficult to think that at one time, there was a short but deadly battle that took place there. What a successful hunt you had with BBG, HH. She was able to locate and dig up so many artifacts - bottom of diffused artillery shell, Panzer hatch hinge, (thanks for comparison pic), aluminum cable, huge Pancer axil shaft, Soviet coin, large bolt, rings to hold Soviet casings, artillery glove, just to name a few. And last but not least, all those Panzer track links. Very successful venture. Thanks for sharing. Oh yes, and nice new gloves you had HH to carry out the task.

Has anyone explored Panzer Kaserne in Boblingen, Germany? I was stationed there from 1984-1986. We used to do PT in the forest just outside of the base. We also did some tactical road marches out there, and we saw tunnels that were blocked off. We were told that those tunnels went to Patch Barracks in Vahingen, and that the training area of Panzer Kaserne is where Rommel trained his tank companies. Legend has it that the Germans built an experimental super tank, but it was toward the end of the war, so it never went into full production. Legend has it that it was buried in a swamp just outside of Panzer Kaserne. We did see some firing ranges out there as well.

Ive watched lots, if not all) of you vids, great stuff, i rarely comment on anything or even subscribe, but i come back to sites i like an look for new content, but (and this first bit is really to your children), ..."you have a really great dad", and to you, "you`re doing a great job as an historian, AND a dad, great work". I grew up very much aware of WW 1 & 2 with older family members having served in them, many old photographs of soldiers on the walls in the hallway, and in a way, felt a little afraid and mentally scarred by the thoughts of what happened to them, but also, totally fascinated and drawn to educating myself far beyond anything i ever learned in school. I chose to learn the German language in school (im an Australian so until i traveled Europe it was not of much use, strictly english spoken here, outside tourism jobs or have a German family etc). I tried so hard not to turn my travels there into a tour of war sites, but Europe is littered with them, and Nazi structures are so astonishing large and strong, hence, are still there. At school, the wars were held far away in some field in some country somewhere ...hit home and deeply resonated with me, when it was no longer some field in some country somewhere, but the very one i was standing in, it deeply moved me, and was not a matter of `sides` to me, but places humans were, in many cases, more or less forced, to kill strangers from another country to save their own lives, because politics said so, it was where otherwise ordinary humans came to gether to kill each other in unprecedented numbers, with huge machinery, i shed tears in several places, for the whole thing, not one army or another, and im not someone who sheds tears much, im not young, no stranger to `defense departments`, and had faced many things prior. The places you take your viewers are places most of us dont have time to locate and see as intimately as mere tourists, either within the great country of Germany, or Europe as a whole, and it means such a lot to hear a German telling the history, taking us to those places, and showing us what is still there, im personally thrilled that German citizens are in a place to be able to start looking back 70yrs+, and being open and honest, without hessitation or fear they will be missunderstood as being neo nazis or ....that kind of mentality, this is a part of your history, and you should be allowed to own your nations past, good bad, whatever, and not have to feel a grain of guilt, Germany is a great country, its YOUR country,and it was a personal favourite when i traveled it, now have many German friends i hold dear. Any other historian/metal detectorist doing these vids, while still educated and talented, and respected, dont bring me the joy i get from hearing a German tell the stories and history, and take me along as though a friend, on detecting trips and making me feel right at home and part of the family. Please keep up the great work, im forever a fan, and would maybe like to have a beer with you even (i dont really drink, but, ...meh, when in Rome), i do hope one of both of your children carry the torch decades down the track when you are old man like me (or as i feel most days), doing fewer trips, and that they carry on your important and hard work. PS. if it is possible, a brief `zoom down` from above of a map of the country, or to the general area you`re cover in the vids intro would be great, although im aware some places you wish to keep a bit secret, and thats fair enough. Again, many thanks my friend.

Hi! This tracks were used in Pzkw 1 and maultier half track since you said they where going to berlin The tracks are probably for maultier half track vehicle you said russians went straight to Berlin from that spot im guesing that it was 1944-45 and Panzerkampfwagen 1 was withdrawn from service in 1942. It probably was use to transport soliders with panzer division. Cheers

Given the timeframe and the possible location on the ost front I would suggest that they could be Pz2 tracks which look very similar to Pz 1 links and were used on the Wespe and Marder 2. Both would have been operational in the area.

Could this be a forward repair base? The tread appears to be from a standard size tread track segment. One appears be good enough to be used a as a spare tread in a restoration project. Of course these spare tread segments were cared on the tank hull and could have been shot off or dropped off during field maneuvers. Guess it really doesn't matter after all these years. Action in the last few months of the war were hectic and horrid for all sides.

I just found your channel yesterday. I love it and all the things you find. Your kids seem to have better luck than you. It is nice that you hunt with them. Do you carry everything you find home with you including the axle and window frame?
@WW2HistoryHunter6 жыл бұрын
some items are just to big to carry with us so they are either mared and collected later or donated. Thanks

It's hard to believe that such a beautiful forest could have been a killing field!!! God bless the fallen!! And for your daughter & you for keeping there memory alive! Maybe you can answer the question between my son & me, I told him you use a small coil because of the brush, trees, and it's kind of a pinpointe it self, my son says it finds deeper stuff! Pls help & we love the videos.

small coil is for more accuacy and it kind of beams Down a bit ahrder and precise than a larger coil. At least mine as i have modified the machine a bit. Say hello to Your son and Greetings from us. Thanks
