Good morning from Chicago, Illinois. I came across your channel and I am very grateful to have found it. Watching your Dragon Pz.IVE DAK kit. The timing couldn't be better for me. I too have this kit and will be starting assembly very soon. I very much like your step-by-step description of the build, a tremendous help for a guy like me! I am a "veteran" of Dragon kits having built a few in my career, so I fully understand and appreciate your emphasis on the importance of thoroughly reading & studying the instructions. Great detail, excellent quality but very labor and preparation intensive!! Thanks again and I will be viewing more in the future!

Overall I like this. The cupola being on crooked is pretty distracting. The markings are a bit off, and i think you would have been better off using xf57 desert yellow as it matches RAL 8000 better. But your chipping and weathering is tops.

Absolutely brilliant! I have to admit there were a few moments when I thought you had screwed up with the heavy coat of yellow and then the wearing effect.... but like a magician you brought out something that was invisibly, well within your minds eye! You're really an exceptional artist. The use of so many different technics in one project was really impressive. Congratulations, my entire skill set would sit nicely on your smallest finger. To top everything off a great tutorial. Job well done.

You are more than welcome....after all it is deserving! You know I visited an military aviations museum not that long ago and they relied heavily on the use of 48 and 35 scale models for some extreme displays. I think your work is even better than theirs....and that is a tall order, believe me. Good luck on future builds I am certainly enjoying your publications. Thank you!

nice video, thanks for the upload. 1 question, at 1:14:05 you switch from constant pressure on the airbrush to almost constantly flicking the trigger, what does this do to your paint / air mix? i.e. What does this change achieve? (i'm an airbrush n00b...)
@friedeggnchips4095
@friedeggnchips4095 8 жыл бұрын
If you want to make nice strait lines as thin as a pencil with an airbrush, you can lower the pressure and use the airbrush very close to the are you are painting
@scalemodelmania
@scalemodelmania 8 жыл бұрын
thanks for your comment mate. The flicking action was to apply a patchy pattern to the tank around the back section as this area had a lot of wear because of tool box and engine access.

very informative video , really impressed with the chipping / weathering effects . I'm actually inspired to have a go at one of my 16 th scale RC panzer IV , currently it's finished in German dark grey , I'm very tempted now to make it look like it's spent several months in Libya . My loacal model supply store has gone out of business , so I'm having to order my Tamiya paint on Ebay , just as well I oredered 3 pots of Dunkel Gelb (dark yellow) , should have sufficient to do the Panther , and enough left over for the Panzer IV , sooner it's delivered sooner I can make a start !

You're not going to want Dunkelgelb if you're going to depict that Pz IV in Libya. You'll want either RAL 7008 Khakigrau or RAL 7027 Sandgrau for your base color depending on whether its before or after February 1942.

I think the helmets should have a different kind of weathering compared to the rest of the tank, because helmets are not always kept on the same place outside the tank. You often use your helmet as a carry bag or food basket, tankcrews not often use their helmet inside the tank for obvious reasons. But because helmets will be used and taken off the tank, then the weathering should be different on the helmets.

Should do the arse of it with the ash pigments like it was on fire at some point if a fantasy tank! Haha, I have the jagdpanther 2 what of kit from amusing hobbies it's got beautiful moulds ! Mostly like dragon tools and tool clasps etc! The detail is superb! It would actually be a great kit for the parts if didn't want to build the kit as a jagdpanther 2 TD it's got the hull of the panther and extremely detailed to swap for like if had a tamyia panther or an older mould kit I have built ot ul.at the what if jagdpanther 2 tank destroyer and its stunning! I have just got an email from my local hobby shop saying my atl 28 panther 2 tracks are in and put aside for me for it! So can't wait to get them on it now! I'm away to start the Meng bergepanther today just finished up my Matilda weathering she looks great! Iv got to definitely add the panzer 3 and 4 to the collection soon! Hello I want to ask the user what is the glue on the windows of the tank so that you can open and close
@friedeggnchips4095
@friedeggnchips4095 8 жыл бұрын
There is no glue, some kits/brands may have hatches that can be opened or closed while others may have to be permanently closed/opened with regular modelling glue
@scalemodelmania
@scalemodelmania 8 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, friedeggsnchip is right. This kit allows the hatches to be movable which is great but not a lot of kits have this option.

It might be too late but you have the tracks on the wrong way. Looking at the front the tracks should look like this. / \ not \ / Plus your turret cupola is on wrong.

Abit heavy for my liking but if you like that what counts! It's more like a panzer nowadays than what it was 70 years ago but then saying that the paint was mixed with anything believe it or not even piss!! And sand storms would wipe that thing basically clean! Natural sandblast haha!
