No we don't clean the vagina/cervix. Because the cells on the surface get removed, which we want to send for cytology.

I did it for the first time yesterday. It’s not painful at all, more like a tiny pinch. If you’ve gotten a covid vaccine, that hurts a lot more than this does lol

Only the Speculum insertion can cause pain. Otherwise no pain of Ayers spatula

Not so much Sana, The pain part is just during the Speculum insertion and if you have a good doctor that can comfort you, there might be no pain at all.
