Always good to see how someone else does their PAP. I noticed you threw your throttle in the seat on pickup. I store my throttle in the front pocket and strap it in. fits nicely, keeps it safe and secure.

Awesome review Mark! So glad you've got a motor to fly over there! Oh, that strap on the prop cover is to anchor you prop so as you've driving down the road, the prop won't spin... 😉. Awesome job!
@revbill19575 жыл бұрын
the straps on the prop covers are for securing the prop to the cage so that when you are transporting the paramotor, the prop does not turn. Good review.

Good review, Mark. On that netting, if one of those quadrants becomes damaged, they can be replaced individually. Lorran always told me to adjust those leg straps so you can slip 3 fingers between your legs and the straps. I didn't know what that hole was under the seat, but, I can tell you it does WORK and don't ask me how I know that! I did damage the prop and Shannon sent me a new one and gave me the name of a guy in Florida that repairs them. I trained on a Nitro 200 and I think the P.AP does have more thrust, it doesn't have that spikey throttle the Nitro has. (Either too much or not enough and as you pointed out it is now in your dominant hand. I like that.) I haven't touched those swing arms at all. I didn't know it was 63 lbs. The guy I fly with has a 280 Tornado and it is noticeably lighter. Great video!
@MarkHuneycutt5 жыл бұрын
I like the ability to replace the netting in quadrants. Hopefully I never have to. The Moster very noticeably has more power than the Nitro 200 for sure. I actually liked having the throttle in my non dominant hand but I'm getting used to it in my dominant hand. As for weight, it was 63 pounds with whatever fuel I had in there so dry we were thinking maybe 58 pounds - on my flight last night I burnt all the gas out so I may reweigh it dry.
@lvsqcsl5 жыл бұрын
Those points you mentioned is what sold it for me. I am not the strongest person in the world and I have no trouble launching with a 28 meter Spyder. I knew it was heavier that the Nitro, however, I don't notice it. You might have had 1.5 liters of fuel; I think 3.785 liters is a gallon. It is very smooth on the power application, not spikey like the Air Conception. Great video!

Great videos Mark. FYI, I switched my throttle from the right handed PAP to the Vittorazi left hand throttle. The left handed throttle is slightly longer (about 100mm) I do love that PAP throttle, apart from the position of the kill switch. I inadvertently killed my motor by hitting the kill switch on my webbing, I ended up in a swamp. I just bought a new motor, I am thinking about going back to lefty again. Better to leave the right hand free IMHO. (for righties at least)
@MarkHuneycutt5 жыл бұрын
I agree. I like having a left hand throttle so I can use my dominant right hand in flight.

I own the same exact unit and absolutely love it. I do have one issue to point out though. That kill switch, while it is very accessible and easy to use, it is very sensitive and can get you into trouble if you bump it by accident. I did just that at low altitude when I bumped it on my riser. It killed my motor and I didn't have enough altitude to restart. Was a super sketchy landing through a sabal palm to land on my feet. I ended up putting a small rubber boot over the button with a zip tie to make it bump tolerant and its much better. Watch yourself with that button. If you care to see me make this mistake and pay for it, watch my video about it posted 5 months ago on my channel, is titled - Engine Out | Emergency Landing | Paramotor Flights 19 and 20
@MarkHuneycutt5 жыл бұрын
I've definitely bumped it in flight and been like "whoops that was close" 😆. Definitely has its pros and cons but I like it. I'll check the video. Thanks

One thing I forgot to mention Tucker has that engine on his Scout and when got his new paramotor when he had to replace the engine he said there was a tether on that air box on his new motor. Yes, it was a MY19 just like ours. Ours doesn't have that, I have asked. I would say they should regardless of what frame they are installed on. Just a thought.

Hey Mark, you may have figured it out by now, but I just recently discovered on my pap with the 185 classic it starts on the first pull by taking the gas to the carb. I always over done it by trying to guess how much I was putting into the carb.
@TheWayne6604 жыл бұрын
@@RwP223 when you are squeezing the gas up to the carb take it just to the intake do not let the gas actually enter into the carb. The diaphragm will pull it on in from there. Pull the pull rope until you feel the compression stroke and give it a good pull. Usually starts on the first pull every time.

Does the open areas on the frame which have no netting bother you? It would concern me, possible things getting into prop.

Thanks for complete and honest review. Two questions from a guy still on ground. First I am curious that you came from paragliding so would have experience doing mid day thermals. Which glider are you using with your pap and are you having good success riding thermals with your current setup? Second, I hope you were joking about your weight and health. You seem to be an honorable modest man. Best to ya.

The Pap has low hang points. The ATS system that are on the swing arm makes the weight shift a little more gentle, since it makes the hang point a little higher. Didn't have them on my pap frame to begin with and like it better with them. Especially if you are light weight with a motor that has good thrust it makes a difference.
@gorokhovsky15 жыл бұрын
Do you find this harness with the moster 185 plus experiences higher torquing to the right as opposed to other rigs? I'm guessing since you don't use the torque strap it's not that bad?
@MarkHuneycutt5 жыл бұрын
It's not that bad in my opinion but it definitely turns you right at full power. I slide left in my seat and hold a little left brake at full power to fix it. As for a particular harnesses, I don't think they build torque compensation into harnesses as much as they do the swing arms, offset blocks, aerodynamic spars and lamels, etc. The torque strap is the first harness related thing I've seen, and you could use it on any harness.

That phone is blasting an EMF field which kills cellular mitochondria. Keep phones and radios away from your head and body as much as possible. EMF field radiation reduces dramatically a foot away from most devices. There’s no good solution for this, but I store devices in a harness pocket. Amazon.com has many different phone attachment products.
