Eighty-eight-year-old Jerry Lewis puts his hand and footprints in cement at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Aides hold up Jerry by his arms when his legs fail him after kneeling. Jerry has the crowd laughing at his silly antics and poses for photos with his wife SanDee and daughter Danielle. Includes shot of Quentin Tarantino introducing Jerry to the audience.

Lewis & Martin were the Beatles of the late 40's early 50's. They were MONSTERS, HUGE and it was because of Jerry Lewis. He was a comedic genius of the first order. It wasn't until much later that it came out about his private life. But heck, Bing Crosby was an abusive father. Rock Hudson was gay. Robert Mitchum smoked weed etc; they all had a skeleton in the closer and Lewis was no different. He was a unique comedian who never failed to deliver on laughs

Yeah maybe it’s just not my time but everything I’ve seen from him I just don’t find funny I find annoying. And I can’t chalk it up to the time because Abbott and Costello were way before him and I think people like them, the Marx brothers and buster keaton are hilarious, so it isn’t a product of it’s time thing I thought Dean Martin was pretty funny and rickles is obviously hilarious. I think his status as a celebrity overtook what he actually was as a comedian or comedic actor everyone just talks about how classy these guys and this time were, I mean they STILL say that even with everything that came out about him. Even if you’re naive enough to believe all of those women are lying, and all these people he’s worked with are lying fine. You don’t believe his kids?? That he was an abusive father and husband, and took them out of the will because they tried to help and protect their mother that he had been abusing for 30 years? He was a selfish scumbag. Didn’t care about his children, his grandchildren, he only kept his second wife and their adopted kid in the will, and only 2 of 5 of his sons were even allowed to attend the funeral. Idk how anyone can try to defend him as a person you can’t say “oh it’s just the time back then” because he did all this shit with his kids towards the end, that was recently and he even continued sexually harassing women into the 2010s

Also, Jerry's real-life kids sold exaggerated stories to tabloids about getting whipped as kids. My best friend worked with one of the Cosby sons who told him his brother talked him into doing the book filled with lies for money. His son felt that even if he left them nothing, he could have left his grandchildren/great-grandchildren at least a college fund and left his ex-widow something for her old age. @@robertm.-certifieddaytrade4939 OMG was it that bad?!?!? LOL. Still, I think that Jerry overreacted. Ringo Starr was notoriously unfaithful to his first wife. Due to her depression and vulnerability, she slept with George Harrison once. There was a mutual attraction and it led to that one-time sexual encounter. When Ringo found out, he hit the roof, although he had been unfaithful himself big time. He immediately divorced his wife although she was broken-hearted and wished to reconcile. John Lennon was furious with George because he said the Beatles were all like brothers to each other, so George's betrayal of Ringo was unforgivable. For a long time, John would not speak to George for this reason. Ringo went on to Barbara Bach but did not have any more children than the 3 with his first wife. His first wife also went on to remarry. George divorced Patty Boyd and went on to remarry and have a son. Life goes on. I can't imagine Ringo would disinherit his children by his first wife just because she once cheated with George Harrison.

Heavy Mental He was basically a ‘slapstick’ comedian who rose to fame as one half of a team with Dean Martin in the postwar years. But that kind of comedy became less popular with the public over the following decades and Jerry rather faded away. He did make some quite successful films, but I feel that Dean maintained his popular appeal for a longer time because he diversified more. He had a very popular TV show that lasted for many years, and also proved to be a good dramatic actor in such films as Rio Bravo and The Young Lions. Also, of course, he was an integral part of the famous Rat Pack, who ruled supreme in Vegas in the early 1960s.

Jerry Lewis is nearly 90 freaking years old, what 90 year old do you know that wouldn't need a little assistance standing after being down on thier knee's? Some of the "legs failing" here was obviously him fooling around to get a laugh as he has ALWAYS done, and some is simply an 88 year old man legitimately needing a little assistance getting to his feet after being down on his knee's. Hardly a news story. This man has suffered with DEBILITATING back problems for many years, so the fact that he can still walk at all at his age is a miracle in itself. Why take away from the magic of this moment for Jerry Lewis with silly bullshit like this?

Yeah, I'm afraid you are most likely right. When he came to Australia (Perth WA) the very last time a few years ago, my cousin (who like me grew up loving Martin and Lewis) so much he named his first born "Martin Lewis"...anyway. He had the opportunity to see Jerry live and ask a question, so he jumped at the chance. When it came time to ask his question, he told Jerry that he was a huge life long fan and that he actually worked in minor radio broadcasting...before he could actually ask his question, Jerry piped up and said/asked "do you fix em ?" My cousin took it in his stride...but I saw it for what it was, Belittlement at it's finest. NEVER meet your heroes ! I know my cuz will never say it, but that must of hurt. Jerry was an AH to him. Dean on the other hand...was delightful.

@@themessenger5868 yeh Dean Martin was well loved, and it came to the point that Jerry Lewis was going behind his back all the time and everyone on the movie sets where starting to dislike him. And when he died he left his sons nothing in his will never was not a nice man totally different from the character on screen .

one of the things I learned watching the Tonight Show, Letterman, etc was I liked many celebrities- because of the roles they played. and when I saw who they really were- I didn't like them so much anymore. Mr. Lewis was an Iconic and LEGENDARY Entertainer: A Pioneering Visionary of Stage, Motion Pictures, Television, Radio and an accomplished Director and Composer who refused to cede the spotlight when his age (late 70's) started to work against him. Mr. Lewis was a Pro who did not change with the times (Read: Politically Incorrect" and I appreciated him even more for this LOL). Mr. Lewis also ran circles over performers who were more than half his age and expected their very best. Of course, he was a Pri c k. LOL

Dad: "Do you know why they called you Jerry Lewis?!" Dad said in his usual upset tone. Me: "Yes! Sir! I look like him!" I said in a slightly down tone. Dad: "No. You do not look like him.
