I first fell in love with this cocktail at a local Italian restaurant a few yrs ago. I’ve made it many times as it is one of our go-to’s but we find using all equal parts makes it too lemony so I cut back on the lemon and it seems more balanced. The Amaro Nonino is very complex and great on its own.

I tend to love drinks with Campari but would imagine it being a bit out of balance with Campari and might take over the drink/be too bitter for most folks. The Aperol really helps bring the sweetness home and has less of a habit of taking over drinks imo (though maybe 3/4oz of Aperol 1/4oz Campari or something might be interesting).
@christinecamley3 жыл бұрын
@@CoachVinoLLC I have used both! I find the Aperol creates a better balance but both are delicious! Let is know what you think when you try the Campari!!
@stepanpazderka54979 ай бұрын
I love Campari but in this case it doesn’t work for me. Way too bitter, especially when made with Rye Bourbon like in this case. The Aperol balances the bitterness of Nonino by adding additional sweetness.

Anders, Old Granddad has been a Jim Beam product for some time now, and a number of their whiskies are noted for having a "peanut" quality, as Heaven Hill bourbons seem to hint at cinnamon. Anders & Az, A terrific cocktail that I first experienced/enjoyed some years ago at Emeril's local coastal restaurant (not so tart)... must confess I woosed out and pared back the lemon juice from equal part to about 1/4 part and added 2 dashes of angostura. Feeling even more jazzed about recipe after "personalizing". IMO, FRESH lemon juice ain't all that superior compared to Nellie & Joes bottled; but as a midwesterner by birth, guess I'm just stubborn thata way. 😀
