I'm sick of reading all these "Hollywood is out of ideas" comments. 1.This film has nothing to do with America (CAN YOU NOT TELL ITS AUSSIE!!??!) 2. This is a fantastic idea which is original, and Hollywood could never think of. 3. After watching this film i can say that it is the best kids film i have ever seen, incomparable to the animated bullshit Hollywood pumps out year after year. Like seriously, this is the Pulp Fiction of kids films

This is actually a good movie. The story is simple and different from your typical favourites. The message of the story is simple yet strong - pursue your dreams no matter how small or big it is. It also shows the value of friendship and life. I rate this 7.5/10

Going to take my little brother to see this because not only does it look like it could be very heart warming and inspiring, but also because it is an Aussie film, actually feels really nice to listen to your own accent in a movie for a change
@fishbulb39269 жыл бұрын
Too many people are dumping on this movie because it's about Paper Planes. I don't think half the commenters have the IQ to look past the title and understand how the protagonist develops through it. I'll admit, it's a kooky idea for a movie. But with proper storytelling, you can make it work. As an Aussie, I want to support the local industry despite our reputation. Original movies like this is where we need to start. Besides, an original movie about making paper planes is still eons more creative than sequels, remakes and novel adaptations.

I'm not Aussie yet I agree with you. It is fresh, and has a deeper meaning underneath the random topic of a paper planes competition.

I saw this film at the Melbourne International Film Festival, and seeing that everyone thinks it's *just* about paper planes is somewhere between disappointing and hilarious. It's like little kids, when asked what a film is about and they give the whole plot. The film is about independence, overcoming hardship, determination crossing into adolescence and depression. The paper planes are just a vehicle to carry the story from point a to b (pardon the pun). It's also a refreshing break from the mountains of superhero movies, science movies, book adaptions and historical movies that we've been bombarded with from Hollywood in the last few years.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but in this case some of these comments proved how ignorant some can be, I do like a popcorn flick but a heart felt story is very refreshing in todays movie culture

I think more movies like this need to be made - movies which encourage kids to think creatively and to take an interest in scientific subjects, like the physics of flight. The film industry needs to produce more films that praise ingenuity among the youth, more so than beauty and athletic ability. Think about how many films are out there that praise the athlete or the individual who has model good looks. They are a dime a dozen. We don't need to encourage more of our kids to go on to become football stars or to look great in a photo shoot. What is really going to produce a better future is the innovators of the world. If we are going to glorify anyone in film, it are these people.
@karmajustwatchingyoutube6803 Жыл бұрын
i understand ur point bur most kids would be more appreciated in sports there are more dreams about sports than innovation and thus it would make sense to make movies about sports im not gonna sit in a cinema watching a movie about a kid learning how to do math to become a mathematicion unless it is interesting edit: kids wouldnt care that a movie is about sports so i should play sports they will just pursue their dreams just becuase a movie is about sports wouldnt mean they would change their dreams to become a athelete

The reason why I really want to see this is because it provides a lot of nostalgia during my primary years of schooling in Australia when I first came here. I had a great childhood in Australia and the concept may turn off a lot of people, but to me I see the simplicity of the movie itself as how I led the simple life when I was a kid. They really do have competitions for paper planes and it shows how something that the majority of us see as insignificant may be incredibly important and rewarding it is for others.

Kind of surprised by the many comments thinking this is just a straight up and down movie, it looks like it has a lot of heart. Sure it doesn't have any of the blockbuster glitz but it's not supposed to. Gosh doesn't anyone remember when they were kids and didn't need much to be happy? I thought I was a cynical adult, geezus. Also kudos to you Australia for showcasing some of the many different cultures that live there.

I saw this movie today with my 5 year old and it made me laugh and cry. It was great and Ed Oxenbould is a fantastic little actor. Americans will probably not get the humour, but then, unless they're being bashed over the head with a punchline, they rarely do. Scenes shot in Tokyo are particularly welcome and the Japanese used is absolutely authentic. Ranks right up there with "Imitation Game" which is also an amazing film, and only slightly below "Interstellar" which cost millions more to produce.

This looks really cute! I'm not entirely sure what people are going on about though, sure it doesn't look like a cinematic masterpiece but come on guys! It's a family movie! And it's not about "Paper Planes" it's exploring the journey of a child who sets himself a goal and believes in himself enough to see it through! Why on Earth does that sound bad? It's just one of those uplifting films you go to see because you generally end up leaving the cinema with a smile on your face. Considering all the shitty things in the world right now, I wouldn't call that a bad thing :P
