Guitar hangers. Nice. With bulk purchases like this, I always figure there will be a few good items that make back my money and the rest can go to flea market at a dollar a piece. A few hundred books at a buck a piece adds up!. You will do well.

Great haul and welcome to the book business ! 🤝 Even if you just will get a few dollars for each item, this will mean big buck for you. I am just looking for the "Red Book of American Coins" (some call it the Bible of U.S. coinage), so if you got one, here´s your first customer ! 😉As a "lady of education" you are able to do some proper research, so your knowledge will be your wealth, as people of wisdom like to say. 🤑So, good luck and huge profits in your new business, which might be a great learning experience for you. 🤞Have a wonderful weekend, and see you on the next one ! Have you considered selling the books on Amazon? When I was reselling I'd list books on Amazon if they would bring more than $10. Good condition books bring higher prices for the same book. The advantage was also that you list once and no relisting fees, it stays up til sold. EBay prices and Amazon prices can be way different.

The 40 green storage totes has some value to someone who wants them. Even at a giveaway price of $2 (Probably worth at least $5)...that would be $80. But those green velcro bag inserts in each box look to be similar to the big IKEA bags. Pretty easy to sell those at the flea market to people who need something to carry their treasures. Easy sell. And they stack flat so won't take up much space. * AND any of the books with lots of pictures would sell at the flea market for crafting or Junk Journals
@PaperandMoose2 ай бұрын
The totes *should* be easy to sell, I agree. I definitely cannot use or store that many!

@@PaperandMoose Renee, I have been known to buy storage units just to get the totes. I think i might have paid $40 for a little 5x5 that was almost empty, half the floor covered. I saw that about half of the dozen 18 gal. totes with lids (Retail $8-$10 )were open and stacked together. Anything I found in any of the totes was just gravy. And maybe 30 min. tops to clean it out.

Oh! And junk journal peeps LOVE random book page sets, especially holidays, animals, etc. I split mine up with about 5-6 books worth of pages counted out in sets of 10-20 from the whole pile. It’s fun to get pages from several books. It also takes care of the ones with no covers. With illustrations in kids books you can sell for anywhere from $4-8 per set. Gets your money back quickly!

Where we live we never have storage auctions but we have summer cottages and a lot of the people who owned them have been dying and they have been having estate sales and garage sales. We stock up on items in the summer and we do quite well with books but only old books and old cookbooks. I am crazy for kitchen gadgets and items and my husband is totally into vintage paper, we also have done quite well going to the 127 garage sale that is in multiple states, we bought 15 boxes of Lionel trains for 65.00 and we made over 1,700 on those trains and the tracks. Thank you for sharing glad you are doing well ❤

His parents have had booths in antique stores for years and my grandparents collected antiques so we inherited the bug. We also wanted to head out your way to come to that flea market you and Taco stacks sell at, we even bought a new trailer to bring home different kinds of stuff. Happy hunting.

Tap shoes, ballet shoes, stuff from the Soviet Union ... did you ever see the movie "White Nights?" Maybe these were Mikhail Baryshnikov's things? Well, nothing earth-shaking but it seems you will recoup your money & then some. Are you feeling these ongoing aftershocks from the 04/05 earthquake? Hope you have a great weekend and the weather is spectacular for FMs & other things (maybe the Tote Man will buy your Totes. Or trade you things. Now I'm thinking about the history of Totes. Can't be more than 50 years?)! PS I found some more material from that Wilkes-Barre dentist (Hamilton) - will send in next box ...

Great haul! Looks like the former owner was probably a dancer, maybe on Broadway. He had a real interest in the arts and higher learning. You may want to check the books to see if they were signed by the author to him as gifts as he probably ran in those crowds. The child's book from 1956 may have been his own book from his childhood. The chipped Russian bowl may have been a family piece. He spent a lot of money on packing bags and totes so he really cared about his things. I wonder what happended to him. That hand felted snail and mushroom set should sell for about $45 if you'd like to part with it. I would keep it as it is so cute. I think you will do well on the books. Children's books and books about obscure topics sell well. You can sell them in groups by topic or author to make it easier for you to sell quickly and make more money. You do not have to offer free shipping. It digs into your profit. People will pay for shipping if they really want them item. I pay for shipping all the time. I am excited to hear how it all works out. I hope you will share your selling story.

There are certain types of books that sell well. Generally, popular fiction is not worth much. Textbooks, technical manuals, and industrial books sell. History and art books can sell well too. I like that Chihuly book. He's a really talented glass artist. In NJ, his work can be seen inside the Borgata in A.C. I also really like David Macauley's work. He has a great book called The Way Things Work, and you should check out his book The Motel of the Mysteries.

For some of the lower priced individual books, you may be able to combine some in lots based on the subject matter and then sell. I've been downsizing and recently sold a couple of lots of 5 each of older cookbooks and another couple of lots on ancient civilizations' art and architecture. It took a few months for those lots to sell, but it was worth it and they are easy to pack and ship. Rather than at the flea market, you might get a better price on those totes and packing bags by selling locally. I know last time I moved I would have loved to use those for packing, but they were too expensive to pay full price at the store.
