I also recently discovered Paperblank notebooks and I found that they work relatively well with most fountain pens. They are especially good with nibs that aren't gushers. I knew of their existence as a few other fountain pen reviewers have either touted or reviewed them but have been wary of notebooks that aren't designed to be used with fountain pens. The only other downside about them is they only have ONE choice if you like grid paper. It's in a mini journalist notebook format.

Thanks for the comment! I agree that it would be nice if they would offer grid paper in more than just one format.

Beautiful design and a good paper weight. Your review encourages me to write even more than usual. As always, thanks Blake.

« Office de la semaine sainte » is the Catholic Breviary specifically for Holy Week. I use the 1961 version for my own Breviary as a Catholic priest. Enjoyed seeing this design. Thank you for this and all your reviews. Brad (in Canada)

The other thing I like about these notebooks is that they can be stood up on their base when closed without any chance of falling over.
@BlakesBroadcast2 жыл бұрын
I agree that that is a nice feature of the hardcover.

If this was real it would cost over $1000. Leather bound books from Easton Press and Folio Society go for $200-500 without real bindings. Proper bound books go up on kickstarter for $800 and up, and they look pretty plain compared to this.

Yes, you are definitely right about the price. Books made in the traditional way are very expensive. I've seen new Arion Press bibles bound in cloth that are over $7,000 and they are very plain. It is a dying art.

Great review! I had one question, when you were folding the book back, wouldn’t that damage it’s spine? 5:13
@BlakesBroadcast Жыл бұрын
I don't recommend doing it. I would never do that with a book I really cared about but for notebooks I think it is fine and Paperblanks are made well enough that the only damage you could do would be to the outer cover portion of the spine by creasing it.

What type of printing technology is done on the cover can anyone tell!

Your video is what convinced me to get this journal, because it looks so much nicer in the video than in photos. Yours seems to have an overall slight shimmery/glowy look even over the blue parts. I don't know if they've changed it but I was sad to find the one I received to be rather dull looking by comparison. It's still nice but it really seems like they've changed it. I actually wanted to get the Blue Rhine journal initially, but went for the Azure because of the texture and because yours looked so nice. Thanks for the video though because I also wanted to know if these would work well with fountain pens.
@BlakesBroadcast2 жыл бұрын
I am sorry to hear that your Azure journal looks duller than you were expecting. It is possible that the lights I used in my video gave it a more shimmery look. The gold gilt on Paperblanks is never that shiny in my opinion but for the price I do think they look really nice.

I wouled love to know how to remove those damn metal clasps from those journals 😂
@BlakesBroadcast2 жыл бұрын
I don't know how to. I think some of the journals have different closure options.

Hi Michael, I hear you. I would also love to find something Paperblanks-like but with more fountain pen friendly paper. If you come across anything that looks promising let me know.
