I'm a single mother, grandmother and I just stumbled onto your video. I've never made any kind of journals, but, I've always saved boxes to use as gift boxes.. I wrap gifts in the various boxes & everyone gets a big kick out of getting a box of Cherrios for a Christmas or Birthday present.. ( They joke that they are really disappointed, the contents was actually clothes) ....I was born in the 50's so I use, and re-use. The boxes are then wrapped in paper bags, turned inside out & stamped with a carrot & paint, so it's a polka-dot design. I really would like to learn how to actually make a Junk Journal, your a great inspiration.. Thank you so much for your time... God Bless you... Cofy4All

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only person that keeps empty packaging/envelopes or discarded stationery (like those swing filing folders which are nice and thick). Now I'm just waiting for a free day so I can sit down and make journals/penpal happy mail out of my collection. Great video and happy to have discovered you, I look forward to watching your videos : )

Hey Diane, Your journals are so nice hesitant to call them Junk Journals. Your techniques are really refined and your creativity is sew fun. I chuckled to see some painted circles and clusters of ephemera I sent way back. Lol Its great how you incorporate so many elements into a very sweet cohesive journal.

Me, too, Maryl! I don't necessarily want to use packaging, etc. in every journal, but I really prefer using vintage stuff, and odd papers to using digital kits.

This journal is going to be fun! I loved watching you go through all the packaging and printed materials you collected, Diane. Boy that's an industry, huh? I hesitate with each food box now before I toss it. But so many other fun items in your pile that I overlook every day. -- I think my city recycle bin is going to be a lot lighter! People are very interested in Asheville junk journals because they're memorabilia of this. Of time. Of time where covid-19 Hound or people didn't have a lot of things to do and couldn't get out and get the things they wanted to do art with so you know a teacher might even be interested in buying it and sharing it was their students it might be a project she might be interested in showing her students to do art with

MY GRATITUDE ESSAY, THIS IS TO EXPLAIN WHY IM SAYING THANK YOU, and yes it needed this ESSAY/ NOVEL. I'm a newby, infact havent started yet, I've made a few pages of an old book cut into strips and covered with bits of scrap paper and card. Inspiration from one of your videos. I will take a pic and send them, see what you think. Can I say I absolutely love your videos, I suffer with anxiety and cPTSD, your energy is contagious, so relaxing and positive, it's like meditation for me, Thank you so much for sharing your gift, and it's safe to say your not just posting a tutorial on journals, your sharing so much more than that, well that's my experience. When you have lived your whole life in a stressful state, you need to be with others who are relaxed it's like being taught how to relax, I would suspect that sounds rediculas , When I was rushed into hospital struggling to breathe, I'd never experienced anything like this before, being in a constant state of trauma has damaged my heart, I couldn't continue to breath how I had done, the doctor said your breathing wrongly, I replied what in and out like everyone else. Lol. Before I had chance to learn ti breathe right the pandemic came, im classed now as vulnerable, live alone and so have literally not really spent more than 5 mins with anyone for nearly 2 yrs, and terrified about this breathing thing. I just thought oh I will get better. NOT SO, This pandemic isn't going anywhere soon , so I took a long look at things. I've had to except this is my health now, I can improve it slightly, so it's either start researching how to live in a stress-free way how to breathe, in a totally different way. Teach myself how to breathe correctly for my health condition, or just give up and allow my childhood trauma to control my adult life like it did my childhood, and i would just give up living if that was the case. NO NOT ME , NOT YET, I haven't got through the worst 50yrs of a life, the last 10yrs being the worst. I've come through with damages but I'm through it. It was only a mnth ago it started to improve.so it's either fold and allow crap side of life win, or except things have changed learn to live with those changes, push forward and improve my health a bit if it isnt a massive change thats ok, but at least I'm doing it, living that is. Few more things to sort out, but watching your peaceful energy and calmness has played a big role in the passed 2 weeks, and will continue. Sorry to write essay, bit wanted to try and explain to the degree you are helping me with more than just journaling . So once again With so much gratitude, THANK YOU. 🙏

Me, too, Leslie! I remember when I joined Junk Journal Junkies, and saw all of the pretty journals made with digitals, and my style started adapting to that, but my favorite is still using "found" items.

A place for all the packaging ephemera: how many of us have bits of pretties around we saved "because I like to look at it." Junk Journals are made of these (special items to mixed media art journals). Making video 2 of True Junk Junk Journal once my personality, such as it is, comes back. In the meantime, take time to see True Junk Junk Journal and recycled envelope journals on my channel here, like, and subscribe. Recycled calendars. Failed print-outs. Fruit labels. #glueeverythingdown

I had one set of shelves, but I was waiting for the other set before I asked my son in law to hang them. I finally gave up, and my SIL hung up the one set, which I really appreciate! I could use the other shelves over my sewing machine table, but I'm making do.

And to answer your question about making multiple journals -- I kept thinking "Oh I hope she makes them all!' I know they'd sell in a heart beat. Mass-made journal materials are nice, but found items are what make a true 'junk journal' IMO. One other wish I have is that you'll turn on your camera for the process. I love seeing the finished product and I respect the proprietary nature of your work, but I get so much out of watching you create. 😄😄😄
