FYI, everyone. The newer iPhones have a built in scanner. Open email, go into "new message", hold your finger until "Select", "Select All" and "Quote Level" come up, hit the arrow to the right two times, you should see "Scan Document". Use "Scan Document".

Yes we carry 100,000 on every load. And 1,000,000 on general liability. And usually they sign the BOL. Only time is when I forgot to get them to do so.

Hey Bradley. New subscriber.. ❤️. So when you booking the load does it not state the appointment times or when that load has to be to the shipper? Also can you explain lumber (if I’m pronouncing it right)
@TRTHotshot
@TRTHotshot Жыл бұрын
Almost all have pic and drop dates. Some have appointment times. Others first come first serve. lumber? Not sure. TONU - truck order not used Detention- been on-site for 2-3 or more hrs

Hey Bradley, just wondering ..after you take the photo of your signed BOL, do you send it to your factoring company and the broker? and do you have a printer in your truck for anything? and one last thing, after the BOL is signed at delivery, do you retain a paper copy, the original BOL, or just the picture on your phone? sorry for the questions that probably sound silly, but I'm trying to get all these little things straight before i head out, thanks and good video!
@anacuesta733
@anacuesta733 3 жыл бұрын
This is probably a really late response but maybe some of it will be helpful. The way I do it for our business is I ask the driver to take a picture of the BOL and as mentioned by Bradley in this video, you can use an app that converts the photo to a pdf document, or if you or your driver has an iphone you can go to the "Notes" app on your phone and on the bottom right hand side there is a little square and pencil logo. Once you click on that you'll see an option bar pop up with a few selections, you'd choose the camera and click "scan documents". This will allow you to scan a photo as a pdf. I love this because its a built in feature thats free and doesn't require downloading or paying for an app. If you have an android I am sure there is a similar built in option but I'm not familiar with androids. My drivers all have a 3 ring binder that was specifically created to retain the original BOL paperwork. The 3 ring binder has plastic sheet protectors and dividers that are labeled monthly so they can easily insert the documents into the corresponding month. On my end I have them saved electronically on my computer in folders and I also print them and file them in a filing cabinet due to auditing purposes. Hopefully this gives you or someone else some ideas :).

Hi. I know you made this video a year ago. I'm starting my dispatch company and I'm honestly stuck in the bol. Your video is very informative in the subject. I'm still a little confused tho. So is the bol number always on the rate con sheet? & Do the person your picking your freight up from always give you the bol? Or do you have to make one yourself? Thanks!
@TRTHotshot
@TRTHotshot 2 жыл бұрын
Generally. But not always. You can think of it as this: Rate sheet is for you and the broker. It has the terms that were discussed. As far as driver pay. BOL is the transit Receipt. Has nothing to do with pay. So most of the times the numbers match up. But they don’t have too.

@@TRTHotshot ok but do the broker give me a bol or I need to have one already before picking up their freight?
@TRTHotshot
@TRTHotshot 2 жыл бұрын
Usually the BOL will come from the shipper. So when driver shows up he walks in with the ratesheet (usually on his phone). After they load him they give him a copy of the BOL. So then when he drops he gets the customer to sign the BOL. That way the customer doesn’t see the ratesheet. If your dealing with direct customers then you might have to make a BOL. That is the only time that we will make one.

How do you close a load if you are your own dispatcher?
@TRTHotshot
@TRTHotshot 2 жыл бұрын
Very easy. If they have it posted and you agree on a rate, then they might send a carrier packet to get your company into their system. You send a certificate of insurance (showing your current insurance). Then they will email you a rate-con. With you rate you agreed on, addresses (pick up / drop off)

Hey Angela We have our own dispatch. My wife actually handles office/ dispatch. She has been dispatching our two trucks for 14 months. She had no prior knowledge of this industry. She has turned into a very good person for this. She keeps us loaded for at least 2.4 a mile. But we average way more. It’s more work. But we try to maximize our work. I’m loaded right now for 4.61. I had 15’ left and she found another piece to put with it.
