I never knew this was so easy to make!! I've loved these for years and now I can make one for myself. I am going to make loops at the tops of the branches and place pictures of my family in them. Thanks

Nice! I made one using 24 gauge for war gaming, except i covered the tree with water putty to create a "bark". Technique works really well!

I like this, however, I think it would be better on the eyes to use a background (your desktop) that was more in contrast with the copper wire. Thanks!

Thanks for your input! I agree that it is difficult to see the wire so I will have to experiment with different colors for my desk top.

papierdreams Thank you! I shared your vid on FB, and soon Ello. I will look at your other vids and subscribe. I'm a newb at this, but really love the idea of working with wire that's not TOO complicated. Those Tree's of Life on pendants? Yeah? I am soooooooooo far from that, just patience wise.

Wire is a lot of fun to work with. I recommend using nylon jaw pliers to straighten out your wire if it doesn't turn out the way you like. I use mine all the time! I have a pair similar to these. www.wigjig.com/shop/products/Nylon_Jaw_Pliers_WigJig-2801-160.html I'm glad you liked my video and thanks for sharing it!

Thanks for the video! I wanted to ask a couple questions: do you think it would be possible to create a bigger tree using a taller wrap-around item in the beginning and slightly thicker wire? Also, do you think I would be able to find this type of wire at most hardware or craft stores?
@papierdreams9 жыл бұрын
Alex Hem Yes, you can use a heavier gauge wire. I bought it at Michaels in the floral section. It's called paddle wire, to use for wreaths. It's less expensive than the jewelry wire. Just make sure you have the strength to twist all the strands together. If you look at my Halloween tree video, you'll see I used wire coat hangers. That is a very heavy wire but I was still able to twist it to make a tree. Good luck and have fun!

I used 20 gauge gold colored wire by The Beadery. Here's what it looks like: www.joann.com/20-gauge-wire-12-yards-pkg-gold/12257838.html

:) this is cool and a great way to make a realistic tree for my project but im having problems twisting the trunk of the tree i think i got the wrong type of wire but i got 20 gauge copper gold craft designer wire the package says it's ideal for jewelry, ornaments, ming trees and wire sculptures either that or i've got weak hands :(

+Sam ewyk If you look at my Halloween tree video, you can see how I twisted the heavy wire with pliers. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZXcfX6bj9Z8e7c

wow your hands are really strong to even bend coat hangers the only coat hanger iv bent in my life so far was to make a tinsel wreath witch i made years ago in primry school

20 gauge wire is not easy to twist tightly by hand...your fingers will be very sore afterwards. I use 28 and 30 gauge florist wire to make all my trees for my model railroad scenery, very easy to twist and you can really make some nice complex trees !!

Hi. Thanks for this tutorial! I want to make a wire tree for a friends Copper anniversary but all the wire i look at is very expensive i want to make it a decent size about 30cm tall. and if it turns out well i might make more for other people. I live in France and the wire on amazon and other such sites seems realy expensive. Do you have any recommendations ?

I put a wooden dowel through my spools so they're easier to unravel.
