Translation U- Hi, it's Ulysse A- Hi, it's Armand U- We are the Papooz A- And we are from Paris Débuts - Beginnings A- We met in Paris, I think in 2010-2011 and we did a literary and political newspaper with friends for fun in the 14th (district). And we became friends quickly and we started to make music in our respective rooms Son - Sound U- It's the insular music, that's what we say every time, soft music, bossa nova, mixed with anglo-saxon pop. But the album sound more chill than the live Favoris - Favorite A- There is a track on Soundcloud who was never released whose name is King Squid Risotto and I think that it's one of our track that i love the most, in my memory. Inspiration U- I'm very influenced by the bossa nova because i learned brazilian music with a brazilian during 2 years so it influenced me a lot. The bossa nova, 50's jazz, vocals arrangement, the Four Frenchmen. A- I like Fitzgerald and Bukowski. Première Fois - First Time A- The first time I met Ulysse it was after a Patti Smith's concert at Église Saint-Germain-des-Prés. I remember I doubled everyone in the waiting line, alone, to see her. I met him later, he was singing in the street or something like that. I give him a bohemian image but it's true. U- What a bohemian life. Plan B U- I would have loved to have a beautiful restaurant and eat very well, make beautiful dishes with my mother. A- You would have seen yourself in a kitchen with your mother all day and everything ? U- No but you delegate, you make beautiful dishes and after you travel with the restaurant's money. A- I would have loved to be a journalist in the 19th century. Go see the cocottes, be a theatrical critic. Anecdote A- We've already done a concert in front of no one except a sound engineer. It was in Romainville, in a squat. We were sold this thing like an artist's squat, a little Factory, Andy Warhol. And there was a kind of little gypsy on a stolen scooter, a guy who received us who was name Jesus, who was under hallucinogenic mushrooms. And we did a concert in front of no one except the sound engineer who applaud after every song. U- And a heroin addict who was taking drugs a little further.

Very cool interview, to see their influences coming from music of the older generation.. I myself like bossa nova, and soft music, easy listening stuff. Bossa nova though originally from Brazil has gotten some respect in France. I'm hoping the younger generation gets into it also. 50s jazz is cool but I even get into big band and swing, stuff from the 1920s and 30s. When it comes to these I actually prefer the retro bands rather than the original though. I like seeing someone today doing these music. Bonjour French people! Thanks for your music, stay cool!
