An Alaska Homestead

An Alaska Homestead

8 жыл бұрын

We made up our minds years ago, that we wanted to be less reliant on the system and to become more self-sufficient. We didn’t want to look back when we were older and say I wish we would have followed our dreams. So, in 2014 we moved to Alaska in search of the perfect property. In 2015 we found it in southeast Alaska. We have mountains and the ocean to help sustain us. Join us as we share our journey to my Alaska dream.

its very important to know how to fabricate and improvise... now days people just toss it and buy new...they are so wasteful- they dont know how to reuse and repurpose and improvise... great job!!

That mesh on the bottom of your cart is the same gauge as what I have on a garden wagon. They cheaped out on that.

Got to make do with what we have access to where I live too. Shipping isn't too expensive here in Western Canada but I can imagine what it would be up there. I think your fixes and future fixes to that trailer will keep it working well for you for years to come.

It lasted about two years and then I had to completely rebuild it.

Awesome review, I like how it is a realistic depiction of how it goes in the wild. And, we should call it the Thunderdome Trailer! Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Ha that’s funny. Two trailers enter one trailer leaves. Love it.

bought one of these trailers for back woods atv camping on Colorado. It lasted about 1 hour into the trip before the tongue broke in half where is mounts to the axle. Total junk as is. I rebuilt the entire trailer and welded all the joints that bolt together. Lifted it and put bigger tires on it. Now it is actually usable in the real world

Yeah they are junk. I completely rebuilt ours, using on the axle and wheels and two months later those broke too. I need to buy a new axle for it.

I have been looking at buying one of these. Our forest has width limitations. Would you mind sharing what the total width of this is from outside of tire to outside of tire? A VERY Good video you have put together with some great experiences. I believe I will get ahead of the game if i do buy one and start welding! Thank you

Hey Phil, that trailer was completely destroyed. It only lasted a few months. If you are going to be using a trailer a lot I would recommend this Bosski trailer. It cost more but I’ve had my for 5 years and it’s still doing great. It’s $1k but worth it amd you won’t have to do any welding. Downside to this is it is top heavy. bosskibuilt.com/collections/trailers/products/800-ut-x-trailer

Idk if they'll ship to you, and idk about the quality. But I was looking at both log skidding trailer and the heavy duty trailer. Considering them. But it seems like building 1 from scratch seems like a better option. Getting some heavy duty expanded metal, angle iron, and heavy gage square tube for the tongue.

Adelaide VonAlleman I ended up just building one and only kept the axle from the yutrax. About 9 months later the axle gave out as well. I’m going to build my own axle this summer. I would definitely not buy this trailer for any serious type of work. Here’s the trailer I built. kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5Dcf2elfq1gfbM

Hey I. Saw this for 68 dollars online I started my own lawn business in my neighborhoods the trailer good to just drive back and forth on the road with like a tractor? Also do you think it’s a scam for 68 dollars? Thanks

That mess doesn't hold up at all as thin as it is, you would have been money ahead building you own with the resources of having a welder and skills of welding.

Well when you do to build a new one you will know what you need and build it to hold up under those rugged conditions.
