Big props for handling all that plywood and lumber. Transferring from one boat to another does not seem easy.

45 miles to Downtown Dallas, Tx, Hughes net which we have had around 2 months is averages about 67download and 2upload, but, I think that is because they have you use their speedtest. Using ookla, it is considerably slower. When compared to Brightspeed which is our only non satelite choice it shows slightly higher, but works way worse. The saleslady said we could stream on both phones, the computer, and Netflix on tv with no problems. We can stream on one without issue about half the time. The reason we left Brightspeed in the first place, where we could run everything on 8download and .67 upload is the internet quit working, they had me try to fix it with their phone service several times over the first week without it, then made let us make an appointment for another week later. They didn't show up, they didn't call, I called and they wanted to make another appointment several days or a week later, I think it was and I switched to Hughesnet. Edit: I despise Hughesnet and Brightspeed.

Schneider (Xantrex) is good stuff. I had one on my sailboat years ago. Very reliable. I am curious how long did this trip to town and back home take you? People have no idea how difficult it can be living on an island, especially as remote as you guys are. You live in a beautiful place, Juneau is beautiful too. Hope Diana is felling better now.

I’m 62 and when they ask me if i want to go to shopping their treat, it’s a big NO. They shop for hours !!I hope Diana is feeling better. Have a great fishing trip. I hope you don’t get any cod. Good morning Brian and Diana from Cape Cod. You never turn down help👍. Have ever thought about milling some of the wood from your trees to build with. Just a thought. I know those milling machines aren’t cheap but you got a lot of trees around you and lumber isn’t cheap. That was a lot of work getting those materials to the island. Rest up. Looking forward to the fishing video. Have a productive week. Take care✌️🇺🇸❤️❤️

How do you like it.
@StarBase7390Күн бұрын
Just curious. Why didn’t you go with the landing craft type boat that the bow opens. As much as you have to bring things from town and transfer to the skiff. Seems like it’s a lot of unnecessary work. Just wondering how you came to your decision when you bought the new boat. Was it just a pricing issue?
@AnAlaskaHomesteadКүн бұрын
Price, weight and no place to sleep.
@StarBase7390Күн бұрын
@@AnAlaskaHomestead ok thanks for that. I am considering purchasing a new boat and I like the idea of front loading and unloading. I guess you would have to go several feet longer wider and deeper in order to get some sort of comfortable sleeping arrangements.
@AnAlaskaHomesteadКүн бұрын
@@StarBase7390 weight was the biggest issue for us because we pull our boat up on the beach in the winter due to rough weather. Our boat weighs around 3500 lbs and a same size landing craft is about double of that.

I’d put the batteries on top of some sort of foam or insulation pad, so during the winter it doesn’t thermally conduct the coldness from the floor.

Brian I know it’s a pain but you may want to consider moving your battery cables to on top of the batteries rather than hanging out the side for something to catch on them or become a trip hazard. You know safety first. Can’t afford to let any of that energy out uncontrolled or stumble and fall. It could be a very bad day. Enjoy watching. Live Free!
