Paradise Lost is a famous poem by John Milton. It’s about the Garden of Eden, and the loss of innocence when Adam and Eve were banished from the garden. Lana recites this poem in her short film Tropico, which features Gods and Monsters, among other songs from The Paradise Edition. So you weren’t far off at all! This whole project is about the disillusionment Lana felt once she made it big in LA, and comparing her idealized vision of fame compared to the reality. Very much David Lynch Mulholland Drive vibes. As for Yayo…the whole song is Lana singing to LA/fame. Lana wrote this song in 2007/2008 when she was attempting to get noticed. She was living in a trailer park at the time. There’s footage of her as Lizzy Grant singing this song. It’s basically begging Hollywood to “let her put on a show” “take her out of that dark trailer park”.

One thing you should know about Lana is, though her music and lyrics can be very deep and heavy at time, they can also be very funny and sarcastic and Lana's sense of humor is so underrated people don't imagine how unserious she can be at time 😅 Also to answer your question about the high vocals at the end of the Cola bridge, it's definitely Lana singing and you should check out her live performances of it (especially the Olympia one from 2013) cause she does the high notes live and it's purely heaven !!

Her lyrics get better and better each album too. Norman Rockwell and tunnel have the most amazing lyrics I’d say. Just FYI ultraviolence is sad psych rock and then honeymoon is creepy super slow violin movie, her slowest album. Then the next, lust for life is a more commercial pop album, upbeat and you guys will vibe. Then Norman is her magnum opus. Just please stick to it and don’t stop at honeymoon cuz it’s speed!

'blue' is featured on every single album multiple songs n takes on all the meanings of blue. like 'feeling blue' i.e. sad/depressed, blue flame being the hottest flame, 'talk till you're blue in the face' all the phrases and meanings associated with blue you best believe Lana has incorporated them into her work! like she says on ultra violence '"it's my fav color and my fav tone of song"' i.e. she likes sad songs. here 'singing blues" refers to the genre of music. she sees herself as a student and fan of jazz and blues music. she incorporates a jazz/blues cover in most albums. 'blue velvet' is the cover in this EP. 'the other woman' is her jazz cover on ultra violence etc.

Blue is Lana’s favourite colour (and type of song). It gets referenced a lot Edit: For Cola, Lana said “When I wrote that song, I suppose I had a Harvey Weinstein/Harry Winston-type of character in mind. I envisioned, like, a benevolent, diamond-bestowing-upon-starlets visual, like a ‘Citizen Kane’ or something. I’m not really sure. But I thought it was a funny at the time, and I obviously find it really sad now. And I support the women who have come forward. And I think they’re really brave for doing that….I mean, it was in the ether, I suppose. But obviously I don’t feel comfortable with it now. I thought of that right away….I think that, yes, I would say definitely [retire it from my catalog]. That would be the only right thing to do.”
