Shades of cool is my favorite song on this album. All of them are 💎 in the summer I blast this in my jeep wrangler with the roof off! Her voice is angelic, paired with that electric guitar it’s such a beautiful song . I had the pleasure of meeting Lizzie Grant back in 2012 on a street corner in NYC while studying in college. We had about a five minute conversation. She was so beautiful in person and so so sweet and humble she even gave us a hug and a kiss on the cheek! I have been a fan of hers ever since she came on the scene .she is so so underrated. She is a complete and utter poet a philosopher her music entrance’s you like no other artist . she is unmatched!

Decade long Lana fan here. I love seeing her music finally being appreciated by a wider demographic and generally more understood by people. She got so much hate and negative press from 2011 all the way to 2020, she deserves to finally be recognized not only for her poetry, writing and general musicality but for the way she totally shifted the musical landscape. Born to die single handedly took attention away from the European heavy electronic pop sound to a totally different genre of alternative "sadcore" pop rock- that's what it was baptized by the Tumblr youth where she became popular amongst. It also influenced many upcoming artists who appeared towards the end of the 2010s just like Billie. And a little fan fact, Lana mentored and still mentors artists like Olivia Rodrigo, Billie and Madison Beer. As for her most disliked album, although that has since changed due to tiktok popularity, it used to be Lust For Life. The sound of LFL is more experimental, with multiple genres intertwined and features while the themes discuss political discourse and provide wider cultural commentary which at the time of its release did not appeal to a wide range of her fanbase. Considering many of us were in our mid teens at the time, the message was a lot heavier and for many with little to no interest in politics and culture or non-Americans, it did not resonate nor it was relatable. However, in hindsight, it was right on the pulse of the culture and also ahead of its time. The iconic collaborations, the stylistic choices of that album and that era were defining for the albums and eras to come and it definitely shaped Lana's later popularized aesthetic image. It basically constructed what new fans now consider Lana Del Rey aesthetic or lanacore. Anyway, I rambled enough for today. Glad you enjoyed the music and I hope you enjoy the albums to come just as much.

Lana is actually from Lake Placid, a very small town in upstate NY! (I'm an upstate girl too!) She moved to NYC when she was 18 years old for college and spent the next 8 years writing music and playing in dive bars and trying to get her music career off the ground. Finally caught her big break in 2011 when Interscope signed her.

The music videos actually elevate the music so much, she's clearly not the average pop star and her mv's really reflect that. She truly has such great style and I think it contributes to her "cult like following " I feel like a lot of artists these days have trouble showing real character, and lana shines in that aspect, I'll always look up to her (and try my best to remember she's just a person like the rest of us 🥹)
@firstthings_first98287 ай бұрын
Jim is a not just one person or thing. Jim is in reference to Jim Beam, she was an alcoholic. Jim Morrison from the Doors is a big idol of hers, and Jim who is abusing her may just be an alias for a real ex boyfriend and her abusive relationship with him.

I need to go back and watch your reaction to born to die after this but you are basically me and everyone else who's been sucked into her trap !!! LoL i really don't know how she does it either but she sure knows how to sink that hook directly into the depths of my soul and it is NOT going anywhere anytime soon that's for certain LOL. I think you should react to some of her lives from throughout the years because THOSE !!!! Those are where it's at my guy !! I think you should write all of these down right now because they're MUSTS 👍😊👍 From her 2012 Amoeba appearance in Hollywood she sang born to die, blue jeans, video games and without you Then from her endless summer tour in 2015 you gotta react to her singing ultraviolence and shades of cool. Possibly my very favorites but honestly THEY'RE ALL SO SO GOOD !!! Maybe her SNL lives that night weren't the best but could you blame her it was her first time singing on live television .. could you imagine ???? God i love this woman ANYWAYS ... back to your list ! And I'm being so serious about this list lol i really expect reactions to them all and i know you're going to absolutely love every single one of them !! Okay 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Now 7. And 8. Are from her 2018 show in Texas .. "love" and "when the world was at war we kept dancing" 9. And 10. I'll say should be from the show i saw her in person myself ! From her Pittsburgh show October 3rd "norman" which was the opener and "pretty when you cry" which was a cool moment where she changes and adds to the lyrics, mentioning being in Pittsburgh .. and of course just her vocals !!!!!! I melt every. single. time. This was a really enjoyable reaction to this album though .. it's always nice to see someone new appreciating and enjoying Lana's music ! She's truly above top tier, in her very own lane, doing incredibly beautiful and therapeutic things !! 😂❤ Did i stutter about this 10 song list of live performances ??? I think not ! Please please please asap !! Get seated .. and film !!!!😊❤😂

The play on "I can hear (police) sirens sirens violins violins" instead of 'violence' n how her mind changes the police sirens sound to violins to protect herself, and the "we can go back to the start when I don't know who you are" - wish I had never even known you and the "I could have died right there in his arms b/ he was right beside me"- he could have literally killed me right there with his bare hands; "Jim taught me that loving him was never enough"- learning that no matter how much I loved, it was never enough for you. ahhh I can go on n on, it always gets me.
