Old school Nick, completely tone deaf, yelling the lyrics like a madman. Great energy.

Yeah man. When you're actually at the gigs it's not quite as noticeable. Watching on YT it stands out.

I was there in 1995 it took 2 trains and a bus to get up to the airfield at Stratford upon Avon but well worth it

'I don't really know what sorry means, I've been sorry all my life. I'm sorry I was born, that's what my mother told me. I don't really know what sorry means. I've been sorry all my life.'

Those are the last words I ever said to my mother. I emailed her this very quote from Paradise Lost - Forever Failure 5 years ago and have not spoken to her since. It's been about 3 years since I cut the last ties to my family. I feel like I am floating dead down the river Styx. Hopefully my spare change will grant me peace in the next life.

It shot and recorded in such a great way it would have been a great thing to burn this whole show on to a DVD...

What a great version of this song. Love the vocals here, and the drummer here is phenomenal. That 90's bass sound is ace too.

I just fucking love the fact that you could have success in the 90s while being a completely fucking bad singer regarding hitting ANY note. I love Holmes, and in some way I love him for being unable to hit any not perfetctly until today. xD

True. My first PL track was "True Belief", and I remember being awestruck at how absolutely tone deaf he was and how such a vocal track got greenlit in the first place. Love the guy, his deadpan stage persona and his lyrics, and he actually learned how to carry a tune later on, but holy shit he was BAD at it back then.

Haha that's so true. Some of the biggest bands to spring from the underground in the 90s were death metal bands who transitioned to more melodic forms of music where the vocalists had to learn to sing. Think Tiamat, Sentenced, My Dying Bride, Anathema, Katatonia and of course Paradise Lost. None of those vocalists had any actual singing experience or training. But we forgave their dodgy vocals because they were unique and the passion and intensity was there.
