Paradox The Wrapper

Күн бұрын

Yes I realize that I flipped the panels on accident while wrapping. When I lost paint it ruined the wrap so I cut a new piece and rewrapped the panel 90 degrees THE WRONG WAY. I didn’t realize this was a directional film until after. This is my first time doing directional film so this person will come back and I will redo it for free when he has time. It was a good learning experience and I now wrap everything as if it was directional.

This was my first time doing directional film and didn’t realize that I shouldn’t flip the panel. I was more focused on loosing paint. He is scheduled to come back and get the doors and fenders redone to make the wrap flow correctly.

As a rule of thumb you should always consider runing the film directional, you cand get the same problem with metalic or chrome to, depends on the brand your using and even on the lot number, so better be safe then sorry and just run it directional

No person should get angry with anyone that owns a business and does wrap. The only expectation is that the wrap is placed on perfectly to looks like paint and that any damage to the clear coat is a risk as they are sticking something to the OEM part of the car. Also, you should also have people sign and NDA.

Let me break it down this car was sold from a auction to Stevens creek show case for 41,160 it was rear ended with minor damage and the lower fender needed to get blended with the door because it has a scuff so technically the whole back bumper and trunk had to get re done and the door and fender have the pictures to prove it and will be willing to send it to the owner to show him how he got scammed lol

I get that the car was in the shade, but at 20:20/21ish the front passenger door looks stupidly darker then the rear. If it is shadows then its amazingly lines up perfect to be on the door lines. Why does the wrap give that illusion? If you dont mind me asking. Reguardless I am a new sub to your channel and I am not only entertained but impressed with your work. So throwing you appreciation from NH on the other coast!!

Long story short… That’s not the factory clear that’s peeling, that is some other paint job that was done previously that is flaking off because that area wasn’t sanded thoroughly enough with the proper grit sand paper. Most people only pay attention to the main repair area but they get careless when it comes to prepping the rest of the bumper correctly because.... (the customer isn’t going to be looking there) their just going to focus on the repair when they pick up their car.
@pinktacoetr
@pinktacoetr 5 жыл бұрын
I see alot of people commenting on the paint quality being bad but in reality German cars have far superior paint from the factory to most other car makes this particular car has been repainted poorly with improper prep.
@xenonram
@xenonram 5 жыл бұрын
That's a common misconception. Nabil even says it in one of the Topaz videos. It has more to do with the price of the car, rather than the location it was manufactured. German cars aren't what the once were. They're extraordinarily unreliable. MB/BMW cars have so much tech, electronics, safety systems, and computers in them, that something is constantly going wrong. MB/BMW cars are ALWAYS at the dealer for some stupid little thing.

gsracerx98 ..... what you saw on the rear bumper 7:50 is the clear coat flaking off on the previous paint repair that was done on the rear bumper bcs the factory clear coat was not sanded completely when it was prepped. Bcs it’s a thin small section of the bumper way up against the break light, that area does not need color bcs that’s not where the damage was so it only needs clear and in order to not see sand scratches under the clear, you use a fine grit sand paper. The problem is technicians are afraid to sand through the paint bcs it’s a critical area and they are also assuming that the paint doesn’t need much to stick to a surface but that’s the complete opposite. Even if it’s a small area, you STILL need to sand it FULLY but with the RIGHT grit so you don’t damage the paint but that’s what you call EXPERIENCE and that costs money. So when a bodyshop starts getting all technical about making their repairs and the money they are charging, this is why. And now you know why they say good workers are hard to find.

You did a great job! Here, in Croatia, you cannot get a wrap job guarantee if your car is over 3 years old (in rare cases they tolerate 5 years of age) and you are advised that they cannot guarantee the car's clear coat condition. They will do it, but solely at your own risk. As far as I'm concerned, that's perfectly fine and understandable.

Its not the "Wetting" of a clearcoat, it's polishing or sanding the surface smooth on a microscopic level that erases the scratches to make it clear. If the clearcoat is not gone, then you could fix that dullness by sanding and polishing to clear.

I may be able to shed a little insight on what happened. Years ago I was a painter's helper in a well-respected body shop here in town. Dealerships had contracts with us for vehicles off the showroom floor that have been damaged during shipment. I don't know the specific details of this vehicle but I can assure you that many cars have had body work before the first owner ever owned it. My point being that this may be a patch job from the contracted body shop in that local area where the car was sold.

I'll probably just start with the top of my VR4 wear the clearcoat's peeling. Thinking of testing just some scrap pieces of... maybe black... before I order a roll of the color I want. Have any strips of black I could mooch off ya? Has a sunroof, so none of the pieces need to be very wide.

Also, the areas where you sanded can't just be cleared. They would need to be sanded down properly with the correct grit to smooth it out, a few coats of primer and then you would have to scuff the entire panel, blend in the color and then clear the entire panel.

They are walking car crushers. Your own cars are fine because it’s a family member that would be doing the damage and u can fix it. Reminds me of the "handmade" or "crafted" movement, which is mostly hipsters making things badly with the wrong tools. Hard working isn't always a pass however. I admire Paradox for pushing ahead with this, and sharing it. Take huge balls to just plow through, let alone share with KZbin your mistakes. Only advice I have though, is keep the errors customer blind. Your FTF customers should never see or hear of the struggles, the effort, or the mistakes unless you've damaged their property. Get it done, even with delay, and only let the world see the "made it look easy" end results. Then share hassle and challenges with the world.

looks great, but one question: For example at 22:55 where you can see the whole side of the car, there is a hard change of color between the front door and the back door. Is this normal with colorchange wrap or is the a directional problem while putting the wrap on the car? As long as i know, the Avery colorflow film is directional, right? Great Video as always, keep goin! ;)

I think your question is asking why it looks different I don't know if you already got your answers from what he said in the video or other comments but it's because the film is directional and he didn't put the film all going the same way which is why he is getting different colors from the same angle because the film is going a different direction than the rest of it so you get those color changes where they don't blend or match. Not sure if that was what you were asking or if you already got your answer from a different comment but I saw your question and no one answered it so I figured I would drop my two cents and hope that was what you were asking lol. @@ParadoxTheWrapper that's what I'm talking about Paradox. When I'm brutally honest about my observation don't take it personally. You tripped out in other comments responding to what I had mentioned about the things wrong with the job that was done but almost every time you end up agreeing with me that there thing I have pointed it in fact was an error that you made. Don't take shit I say so personal and take it as a way to shit people like me up by don't better work. Ain't nobody wishing for you to fail. And what I say may sound crushing and hard to hear/read but it's just constructive criticism and if anything it would help you improve. Like the piece peeling off in the back where the Seam is on the back of the trunk. You said yourself (after I left my comment) that you caught it later and fixed it before she left. If so then why you get bad at what I say? Lol. Cuz I don't know you fixed it. I just point it stuff from a video that you posted as a final product. And in that final product there's issues. And believe me bro you for want to have seams on edges like that where there are bends in the body or around a corner. Cuz that's the first place that will peel. You're literally better if doing one piece around the bend of the body and then have a seam in the wife open area (as shitty as it might look) versus having a seam on the corner or an edge cuz that's the first thing to go. Like I said also shit the front bumper on the green Camaro. And I don't know why you did it that was because in other videos I've seen you do a cold pre-stretch and then int heat the corners t9 bring them back to their original shape so there's no pulling in the wrap therefore no peeling in the future and you've done it in some videos but in others you don't do I don't know what you did it that way. And the directional one where the doors and fenders didn't match I can guarantee you is probably because after you cut the first cut and put the wrap in the side of the car, you cut out the front door for example (or maybe the back) but then when you got to the door next to it you wanted to use the straight edge of the wrap so you flipped it upside down to have a straight edge on the top but that caused the wrap to be backwards from the direction if the grain. Simple error and it could happen to anybody. And I'm glad you accept that responsibility and admit you base the error and that you'll be fixing it. Good for you and I hope you don't have other future costly mistakes and learn from these things. Again, shit I say may sound harsh but I'm just being real and the best way to get mofo's like he to shut up and eat our words is by doing such an excellent job that I ain't got shit else to criticize you for LMAO. Outs you won't have constant redo's costing you money and time as well as a happy customer the first around making you much more professional v hell you might even be able to raise your prices because of the higher quality of work. And as long as you're a little bit less than the car audio and car wrap proper will always continue to come. Everybody loves saving money. Lol. Good luck to you. And my bad bro.. this fucking comment got so fucking long real quick. LMAO. But I had shit to clear up.

Because then the customer might have changed their mind and gone back to the dealer to complain and you lose the job. But once you start... Customer is stuck with a half way wrapped car so he has to pay you regardless for "some" work. LoL. The sad thing is now that the guy did this he can't even go back to the dealership to complain because they'll just blame the wrap guy for screwing up there paint. The only one that loses money not once but twice is the customer. Ethically it's wrong to start it without telling him this stuff. But it is what it is.

I can’t tell the clear was gona peel just looking at it. You don’t know for sure until you stick wrap to it. I tell folks all the time that’s the risk you take when you wanna get wrapped if it’s not oem paint. I don’t wrap on bad paint on purpose that’s more work on me to have to sand it and potentially loose material. I don’t charge any extra for this stuff

I’m sorry, sir. But as a wrapper in NYC, I have to point out some mistakes. This is only to help you grow with no means of bashing you. There’s a long list of mistakes but I’m only naming a few. Lots of water used, your panels are flipped. These wraps are directional!!The corners and cuts on body lines are no good, you didn’t prep the car right by inspecting and masking (tape) before you began to wrap. The option to do the trunk in three parts is not the smartest. You could of take BC our son adhesive because the client is going to have a lumpy surface to put the badges and may fall off. You would safe so much time an materials on future projects if you take proper steps. You want happy clients to stay happy. Not later have reason to talk smack about your work. Can we also have close ups on future videos? Best of luck on this journey! Make the industry proud.
