Thank you for this…Having raced and driven from GT1 to now, the new Grand Valley is (for me) objectively awful…Whether as a TT track for cars, Arcade Mode or Sport Mode…It's just terrible…And I take NO pleasure in saying that. In bringing it back, PD have ruined GVS as a both a driving and racing experience. 🙄🤮… I won't be going anywhere near it, in my GT7 playing.

I miss the likes of Hong Kong, New York, Madrid, Seoul, London, Rome, Tokyo R246, Seattle, Paris, and Monaco. Part of what used to pass for fun in this washed-up series, was wondering in which world city we'd get to race next. Nowadays, we're reduced to marvelling at the detailed models of the cows in the pastures. This series stopped being fun for me, with the VW bus crawl in GT5. I haven't played it since. And GT7 pretty much cemented my opinion that this series has forever gone to the dark side, with its aggressive Day One monetization that, conveniently, didn't go live until all the glowing reviews had already been published. I just wish all these improvements didn't come at the cost of hurting gameplay, making the game less accessible for quick multiplayer sessions, forcing one of the split screen players to always use automatic, forcing people to go through 20 minutes of menus and cut scenes just to click multiplayer etc. I haven't bought a new console since the Xbox 360 (and I played that for a grand total of maybe 2 weeks before I put it in storage like 13 years ago, never to be touched again) and the most modern console I played regularly was the PS2. GT4 is still the pinnacle of the series to me. Where it lacks in physics, graphics and sound design it makes up for it with amazing gameplay. I don't know why Sony had to add so many unwanted "features" like the 20 minute long menus and the lack of manual for one of the split screen players.

True. For me, it's kinda iconic because you need to have unique racing line to tackle the oncoming chicane. After watching many gameplays, some prefer hugging the corner, most prefer taking wide after the corner and go quick right before the chicane, and some prefer taking late apex both the corner and the first part of chicane.

Best track for drifting and watching drift replays, GT1-3.

They could at least give us the option to play in the old version.

I like the new track a lot. Reminds me of my time while I was in Malibu.

Isn’t the GT7 one just an alternative layout? I bet they will release the speedway version some time in the future, I mean the highway part sticks out very much from the name
@Paragleiber Жыл бұрын
No, the layout is the same as before. It's only the setting/environment that was changed. As you can see the sequence of corners is almost identical to that of the old track. This track replaces the old one. It would be super weird if they would also add back the old track now, since then there would be two tracks with the same layout.

@@Paragleiber Oh. Makes sense, I didn’t realise that until I saw the map. I didn’t pay attention because they flipped the map on the hud for some reason, just like Trial Mountain; and Seattle in GT4

They constructed a track identity/value for years... to suddenly destroy it... What a crap job.

I do like what they did with Grand Valley Speedway, it's different, but I like it. I'd also like to see Special Stage Route 11 come back, one of my favorite night courses, and the Rome Circuit from GT2.

It’s like they used the same sound for tyre squeal for years, interesting how the sensation of speed seems to disappear between GT1 and GT3 onwards

Polyphony Digitial completely ruined the sweeping flow of the infield (after the second hairpin and before the first tunnel) with the changes made in Gran Turismo 4 that carried over through subsequent titles. It is compressed, blocky, jagged and abrupt compared to the flowing curves of the layout found in GT1, 2 and 3. The corners feel stacked on top of one another. The original will always remain as the true representation of the track in my mind. Compare 4:09 with 6:02. You can clearly see the change on the map overlay as well. Also, the angle of attack for the entry to the last corner before the main straight was changed as well. There is more of a straight run up to the corner in GT4 compared to the curved run in the original. But imo, the infield changes forever ruined the track for me way back in GT4. GT7 just took ruining the vibe of the track to another level. The atmosphere of a hidden valley carved into a forest is now gone, replaced with an under-construction highway.

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of GT7 Grand Valley Speedway. I take the original version.
