@Kalvinjj7 жыл бұрын
Max Huxtable-Short yeah there's not much time, but I still mean it has a generation of difference, since one runs on PS1 and the next on PS2. GT4 is not as impressive compared to GT3 as GT1 to 2 exactly because of this, they had quite some years to do it, it's expected they would push the system to it's limit. Technically it's impressive, but it's also a natural evolution

There's also that thing about it being able to run in Full HD (1080i), just no idea how you do this, if you need to run it on a PS3, or if you use component/SCART/RGB cable on the PS2, I just know it has some support for 1080i
@ian-05837 жыл бұрын
I think the graphics look much better when played on a fat TV
@Kalvinjj7 жыл бұрын
Ian-05 No doubt. A good CRT shows PS2 games in all their glory. PS1 ones also, but I still prefer them on the PSP screen, since it runs on 1:1 pixel ratio. Also heard people saying about how PSP one looks like ass, but upscaled from 480x272 to the video of course it will! Throw it to run on real hardware, it's own screen, and then you see it shine. The proper display does wonders to games.
@no1DdC7 жыл бұрын
Only the NTSC version of GT4 (and also Tourist Trophy, by the way) supports 1080i. It requires an NTSC console and a component cable. If you don't have an NTSC PS2 or a screen that supports component, you can try emulating the game using PCSX2. Needs a fairly powerful CPU however.
@Kalvinjj7 жыл бұрын
Tried and works! Amazing that the PS2 can pull this off, heck a year 2000 hardware that does this, on games even, I really wouldn't believe normally. It does have some borders around the frame and obviously the textures look stretched, also with no smoothening whatsoever it looks a tad rough, but still, how many PS3 games even support 1080i natively? Many of them still run in 720p. For the ones trying it out: Yes, it requires what no1DdC mentioned (NTSC game and console, + component cable and obviously 1080i enabled TV/capture card), and it only enables the 1080i mode in single player races. Menus stay in 480i Widescreen, and so does multi player races (dunno if those support 480p as well), it switches picture modes back and forth when it enters the race and leaves it.
@Gomanx7 жыл бұрын
GT1 and GT2 didn't have bad designs at all, and do fit the name Grand valley the best, even though the GT2 version does give a sense of altitude. I just don't like how all the walls and fences etc are huge. GT3 version has the same problem, even though a lot of details got changed particularly around the bridge and after the 1st corner. It has my least favorite bridge design, but saying it's a bad track for that reason only is wrong. None of the versions are bad. The GT4 version is my favorite. Its main problem is that it doesn't really fit the name as well as the others, but the attention to detail and proportion more than makes up for it. Feeling like driving around on a mountain track due to distaint mountains and the "Panorama corner" after the bridge with so much detail at lower altitude is great. Last, but not least, the fact that they kept this design for GT5 and GT6, with minor changes at most, only proves that the GT4 version is a masterpiece.
@DavidRSAT7 жыл бұрын
GomanX I strongly disagree. The GT3 Version was epic and had that cool ass first corner.

@Kalvinjj7 жыл бұрын
I'm impressed on the difference between Gran Turismo 1 and 2, I didn't remember the 1st one at all, but when you compare them one after the other it feels like quite the jump, almost like it wasn't the same machine running both (not an entire generation gap, but quite big for only a year or two difference)
@staggabob7 жыл бұрын
You can't say there's a huge difference but "you can't see it"- that's what we call a contradiction in terms! In fact there's really no difference at all in track modelling other than some of the sponsors have changed. Both versions use the same assets- even the exact same skybox (the clouds are identical). The only really noticeable visual difference between the games was the lighting and particle systems.
@Kalvinjj7 жыл бұрын
*You can't see it ON THIS VIDEO. It's possibly a matter of the compression of the video. Specially when you consider they're on PS3 so it's all on a resolution high enough for the compression to kill many details.

how people find this track to be hard?
@soundwave56347 жыл бұрын
Sonic Ace 24 well due to how Gran Turismo gives you the tracks it seems to be very technical then what you'd be used to. You start off with simple tracks like high-speed ring and maybe trial Mountain but Grand Valley has a hills and dips mid turn, chicanes and hair pins. Something like Tri-Mountain has these but a lot less dramatic if that makes sense. I'm also going off my pure experience of Gran Turismo 3 and 4 when I was 8 so take all this with a grain of salt.
@dekoldrick7 жыл бұрын
Especially the bumps and curbs that easily upset your cars balance and could spin you out if you're not prepared for it. This combined with how the track has a lot of high speed corners and chicanes that transition suddenly into slow corners, narrow corners and narrow straights with close walls that leave little room for passing and error. It really puts you to the test until you get the hang of it and can drive the track perfectly by instinct.
@LadyLucyna7 жыл бұрын
If you're a beginner, those actually tend to be hard when you're playing realistic, because GT (especially 5 IMO) is actually the most realistic driving game when it comes to the steering and to physics. For someone that put a lot of time into GT games, that's one of the easiest tracks.

The ones that surprised me the most were 3 to 4 and 5 to 6. I expected more of a similarity with the 3 to 4 transition since it was the same engine, and 5 to 6 is practically the same, but with a new HUD and Weather Effects (fixed shadows included). The transition from 1 to 2 was pretty obvious, with new models, a lot more cars and engines, and TT is just 4 with Bikes.
