Great video. I built my first computer right before the SATA standard so this brings me back. I am getting into early 2000s computers again for nostalgia so this is good to know. Seems my devices mostly support Ultra ATA.

I have a 2.5 inch hdd with 47pins n the motherboard have ide pins too,how do I connect them as the SATA cable do not fit in the HDD?? Please??
@itfreetraining2 жыл бұрын
So you essentially have 48 pins, however one is missing for keying. On one side four pins are for jumpers, so there should be a small space between those pins and the other pins. On the other side the four extra pins are power pins. Thus you need to get a laptop to motherboard cable with power. i.ebayimg.com/images/g/Tm8AAOSwda1au3TT/s-l1600.jpg

@@itfreetraining any chance you have the name of the cable you just mentioned please or the link to any websites that sells it please? The link you sent seem to be for a pic only.

I heard that they got rid of the terms master/slave to distance it from pre Civil War era. Of course since it pretty obsolete, that move is kind of meaningless.
@barrylarney22632 жыл бұрын
Still dumb nonetheless.
@itfreetraining2 жыл бұрын
Who knows that reason. In the old day the master and slave drive were not independent. Thus, it was important which storage you use as a master drive. But when that all changed maybe that is the reason they decided to call it drive 0 and drive 1.
