I went through most of popular tutorials looking for explanation for parallel turn and this is the first that really helped me out. After watching it I went for a ride and after 20 mins of trying I finally got it! Thanks!

This is quite simply the most useful tutorial I've found for getting to grips with all of the technical aspects of the parallel turn. I learned to do cross-overs much earlier in my skating journey, and consequently I am finding it takes a lot of conscious effort to put my weight on my back leg, instead of the front. I am subscribing🙂

Best explanation of the weight distribution. Most tutorials don’t cover that important detail. Thanks to this video, I also was able to do parallel turns at 51 years old. It is never too late ;)

I agree too Alain. Am just learning it at 48 years old. I was a roller skater as a child in the 80's, and was delighted to discover how much it helped me when I put on some inline skates 30+ years later 😀

Iam 48. Just started learning inline skates. These fundamentals about weight distribution are key to ensuring that you dont fall. Key for people like me :)

This video helped me to FINALLY learn parallel turns. I've been skating for a few months now and turning with the inside foot in front felt like the most unnatural thing ever. I could actually do "ok" cross over turns but a proper parallel turn always alluded me. Focusing on skating straight in the scissor position and then going onto my left or right edges to initiate a gradual turn worked. I started with a very slow turn and then once it "clicked" I was able to initiate very sharp parallel turns with ease.

Even though this is a voiced over tutorial (awesomely voiced over) for those of us who speak English, I like this guy more than the majority of the other inline skate instructors I’ve seen. He’s so cool. Explains things really well and it’s just kind of a down to earth, cool guy.

I can already do cross overs but i was always struggling on my left as opposed to my right. The drills you showed, helped me to strengthen my left outside edge which was my weakest area. I'm still not there but it's a vast improvement. Thank you.

Damian has expert knowledge and deep understanding of skating. His explanation on the subject is very much on point and you can find no better video on KZbin that teaches the techniques and mechanics which enables one to truly learn and understand the sport. I would recommend watching his other videos as well, they are very insightful. A big thank you to Damian, I've benefitted greatly from your videos!

Amazing videos Damian. I wanted to show you my appreciation for all the work you put in that course. I love how long and detailed the videos are. The thing is that you need 10 minutes to explain something and I need 10 weeks to learn it. Cheers from Spain.

Day 5, probably have put into 8 to 10 hours on inline skating. Spent an hour this morning trying to parallel turn. Made basically no progress. I just sort of veer off to one side but it is not a turn or even a half circle. Also a random pebble brought my right skate to a complete stop and went down one knee in a weird position. That was nice.

make sure you have a well-distributed body weight + edge + rotation. Don't be afraid to "lie down" on the edges - a bit like turning on a bicycle or motorbike

It's not easy as looks. I finally can paralel turn only after capable to first drill(look marcel hookey), and little crossover at zero speed. My tips is, tighten up buckle. More stiff, more easy If you too fear to use outside edge at front foot. Just use inner leg. Its okay for beginning. When u get used, add more outer edges. For you know, it's really fun especially at downhill. 😊😊

While doing the turn, where should we put our weight on our feet? heels or ball of the foot?
@damiannawainlineiceskating8001
@damiannawainlineiceskating8001 3 жыл бұрын
When it comes to a standing leg, let's keep the weight more or less in the middle of the roller, because the centrifugal force itself will "throw" us onto the heels. It's better than holding the weight directly on your heel and risking a fall - especially while studying. Later it becomes less important
