Parallel Universe is a great song to practice alternate picking while slightly palm muting the strings. I used my Telecaster because the tone is a bit thicker than a Stratocaster which works great for single notes like in this song. At the end of the song I play the solo that John played on the Slane live DVD.
This was probably the first time I heard Flea play with a pick!
