More than 70 percent of people who are tetraplegic saw significant return of hand and arm strength and function with the use of a device that provides electrical stimulation to the spinal cord. Those results, from an international study overseen by Chet Moritz, a University of Washington School of Medicine professor of rehabilitation medicine, show promise for the first time for those with spinal cord injuries.
