It was Zac's hand. In an interview Zac states that he's always been best friends with Taylor throughout the years (even after the Farro's departure), and it was Taylor that essentially brought Zac back into the band. My guess is that it's a sign of their strong friendship.

As Haley said about the album, "After Laughter" refers to the look someone has after laughing, that almost pondering and depressed look when the laughing is over. That can be seen in the music in a way. The lyrics are grounded in depression and reality while the music still tries to hang onto the laughter.

@hazm6727 жыл бұрын
i fully agree with you on this. They helped me out when I was sixteen and now, in my 20s - their songs evolve and grow along with me in the same direction - i used to listen to their angry punk stuff but now, something like this is also what I like to listen to (diverted away from that heavier stuff they did, but still different moods for different songs from the same band isn't so bad if it's still catchy, with a different style) i love it :D

Paramore rocks the 80s aesthetic. The sound, the look. That guitar riff and bass. It grooves like crazy. Paramore’s sound says, yeah we’ve been through some hard times but we’re gonna party like it’s our last day on earth, life’s too short
@seymurali7308 Жыл бұрын
I agree sm and I also like how this album has that 80s vibe sonically but at the same time the production can still sound modern aswell! Like especially on this song with the occasional low voice effects
@dontknow5627 жыл бұрын
I don't think artists should make songs just to target what their core fans would like. I think the beauty of the relationship between artist and fan is: "Hey, we made music that was genuine and came from the heart and you, the fan, connected with something that was personal to us". Not: "oh man, our fans want another BNE, let's do anything we can to please them".. it just wouldn't be organic or genuine. It's not like they're saying "F U" to fans who want their old style, it's just a style that they weren't in the mind set to create right now, it's alright if you don't like it. I personally love this song, but I'm not someone who only listens to one genre so I never minded the sound changes.

It's really strange. You listen to Paramore's first album, then this album, and it sounds like two different bands, and yet you realize it's the same band. I'm not saying that in a bad way. I like it when bands change their style rather than doing the same thing over and over again. That being said, I'd like to see Paramore branch out even further with other styles, maybe even incorporating two styles into one.

For those of you who keep whining that "Your favorite band has died," you must understand that Paramore began a very long while ago, all of its members, well the ones who are still here, have grown up a lot since the band's inception. If you dislike their new sound so much, don't listen to them, the truth is if they made an album that sounded like Riot or All we Know is Falling all of you would still have complaints.
@saf18987 жыл бұрын
i don't understand why people are so disappointed when artists want to experiment with music, do you just expect them to make the same music all the time? i love paramore for trying out new things and giving themselves time to grow, it's impressive. if you want to listen to the "old" paramore go listen to their old songs, stop expecting them to make their 2007 music in 2017, they're true musicians i have a lot respect for them.
@strokesfan12517 жыл бұрын
Is this really all that different of a sound for them, though? Especially after the last album, this is right up their alley.....
@rogerwilco88697 жыл бұрын
This is not *massively* different, though. Massively different would be if they started up a rap album. People aren't disappointed, people just like to bitch if things aren't catered to them specifically all the time. And also, I'd be down with all of those artists you just named experimenting with new genres. I am not sure if you were trying to make some profound point, but all of those things sound great.

I will never understand why people would want to hear the same songs over and over in every work an artist makes... This song is so creative and fresh, the guitar is insane good. People are just afraid of change and have a bias against anything that sounds closer to pop.
@UNK0VVN7 жыл бұрын
Because then they become a different band. I want to keep the same sound, so I can keep enjoying them, and not find another band which I can do anyways.
@rubenzavala20847 жыл бұрын
UNKN0VVN that's where you are wrong. A band is not defined by the type of music they make. It's their quality as artists. Adding variety to their portfolio is something good. You still have their old songs, but some of us are glad to hear something different from a quality act. That being said you can still tell it's them without being told. They haven't changed the instrumentation, just the way it is used.
@UNK0VVN7 жыл бұрын
You said you didn't understand; I only explained why. A band can do whatever the hell they want. I would prefer more new songs with the same original style. Many things in life are like that. Would you like for your favorite restaurant, which you frequent, to change their entire menu to food you don't like? I imagine not since you frequent the restaurant because of their style. If you want something else, you go somewhere else.

To those who are audacious enough to call Paramore bad artists for their change, I'd like to point out the fact that the variety which they can play doesn't make them bad, but instead highlights their talent as a band.
@elliejackson54077 жыл бұрын
What to Heck yes, and shows the fact that they actually have authenticity. despite all the hate they get, their loyalties lie with what they want. That's always been paramore. They've always been that one hand who literally couldn't care less if you hate their music. It shows that they won't aim to please anyone, and that they're not afraid to defy the norm to be themselves. Their sound in 2004 is different than it is now. Now I understand people don't have the same music tastes, but understand that they are not supposed to cater to their fans tastes. We don't have to listen to their new music. I'm not a fan of this song, but I appreciate the message, and the style of the song, but it's not important what I think. And they changed because they aren't the same people. I really admire you for posting this comment because so little people aren't aware that they are actually people, and they probably worked really hard on these songs and music videos and all that shit. Not enough people recognize that.
@Hola-tq4pg7 жыл бұрын
The hate is because the fanbase is more oriented to similar pop punk/alt rock bands If the fanbase hear something more alternative like Gorillaz, Muse, Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon, The Killers or Radiohead, nobody will bitching about their funk pop style

As a child of the 80's, I'm digging the nod to 80's pop on these two new singles, even the album art is very 80's. With "Ain't It Fun" you saw them sort of going in this direction, so this is a continuum of that sonic evolution. That being said, do I hope there are some guitar-shredding songs on the album? YES. But honestly Hayley just has that incredible VOICE to where she could sing names out of a phone book and I'd think it was lit.

AWKIF Edit: Another point I'd like to make is the fact that all of the members of Paramore are now older and wiser. Music changes with age. And besides, if Paramore came back sounding the same after their hiatus, you guys would complain that they never change anything. Regardless of the style of their music, I still personally feel like there would be an issue.

You can only do so much with a certain type of music, thats why bands and artists switch genres when they feel they have done all they can. How could they grow if they stayed the same forever? People grow up, so let them be people and explore themselves. I still see the old Paramore in their new stuff, people just don't want to see it so they can be mad about something.

These songs are still just as deep as the other was and they give you conflicting emotions. If you just love the beat then you'll be bubbly and happy. If you listen to lyrics she's saying how nothing ever goes the way she plans it, and people who told her she was going to fail always say they told her so. It's pretty dark with like an 80s vibe. But the depth is there. Stop paying attention to just the sound. It's an awesome song.
@giuliamilesi24347 жыл бұрын
Clandestine Calligraphy I think the same, that's why the album is called After Laughter: you laugh watching the video and listening to the beat, but the lyrics bring you back to reality and the smile slowly disappears. It also happens with Hard Times, a freaking happy song that says everything is falling apart
@MichaelRockfez7 жыл бұрын
With her other songs like Hard Times, she still puts in a lot more meaning than other artists, but this one repeats the same thing a little too much.
