"You don't deserve a point of view if the only thing you see is you." Those lyrics are so powerful...especially in times like now, where it seems like the loudest ones are those who constantly complain for themselves and trod upon the silent sufferers.

“Next time you point a finger, I’ll point you to the mirror.” Every time I listen to this song, I think of my relationship with my dad. He has been emotionally abusing me for about 4 years now. It’s a constant cycle of me telling him what he’s done/doing to me and him manipulating my feelings and making them seem invalid. He constantly gaslights me and treats me poorly verbally and emotionally. I move out of the house in 7 months, but it gets harder and harder to live under the same roof as him. This song, though, is one that I turn to when I can’t say/stand up to him with these devastating feelings I have. Thank you, Paramore, for making this song and speaking the words I hold inside almost everyday. ❤️

[Verse 1] Can't make my own decisions Or make any with precision Well, maybe you should tie me up So I don't go where you don't want me You say that I been changing That I'm not just simply aging Yeah, how could that be logical? Just keep on cramming ideas down my throat Woah [Chorus] You don't have to believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back And break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror [Verse 2] If God's the game that you're playing Well, we must get more acquainted Because it has to be so lonely To be the only one who's holy It's just my humble opinion But it's one that I believe in You don't deserve a point of view If the only thing you see is you Woah [Chorus] You don't have to believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back And break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror [Bridge] This is the last second chance (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm half as good as it gets (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm on both sides of the fence (I'll point you to the mirror) Without a hint of regret I'll hold you to it [Chorus] I know you don't believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back And break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror I know you won't believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back And break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror

I am in my mid 30s. in 2006, Give it a Name London, I saw a small band on the 2nd stage before Underoath were on. That band was paramore. I didn't know them then, they blew me away. It was a tiny little stage next to the main stage that Underoath played on. I went home, bought their debut album. 18 years later, I still occasionally bop my heart out to Paramore tunes with my headphones on. One of the most listened to artists of my life. I miss them.

This song makes me think about when I struggled with loving God and my dad. I’ve learned it’s best cut off communication with my earthly father for a better relationship with God. My dad beat into my head from a young age that to be a person of substance I needed to fit into a mould that wasn’t for me. For so many years I thought I was never good enough for God, but when I realized my father was playing God, and not teaching on true Christian principles- I was free to love God and love people. I became happier, I started making friends. I learned that my dad wanted to control me because he wasn’t happy with himself. That had nothing to do with my Spiritual Father and I- it was his brokenness projected on to me as a by-product of his broken spirit.

Two months later, after this video. The farro's left. BNE is such a great album and absolute my favorite. But the band was in such a dark place. Even in interviews you could feel the pressure and just them falling apart. And now jerms left.. i seriously don't get why bands can't keep themselves together. Now Paramore is hayley, taylor and zac. I hope it stays that way.

I mean it's definitely rough playing together for several years and not being able to take a break. Basically all bands break up at some point, it's sad but inevitable
@LuigiGamesful4 жыл бұрын
Bands usually break up because of how many creative minds combined in one group, combined with each personal ego makes it difficult to stay together. That's from my experience.
@LuigiGamesful4 жыл бұрын
Also the stress from touring and having to come up with new albums that'll satisfy both old and new fans.
@mf80804 жыл бұрын
In this particular case, on top of dealing with personal issues, friends growing up together and becoming themselves, creative differences, touring for months, being away from their family, the Farros's parents were also going through a rough time, they also had to deal with a romantic breakup and it was a nasty one, involving cheating so it was a lot, too much too overcome. Plus, Josh had to stand there every night and hear those lyrics...

Hello December Brie ! Honestly, I don't have much news on them right now. For awhile I only listened to their former songs (from All We Know and Riot). It just didn't feel the same without the Farro Bro's. The split was too heart breaking. I've only started listening to their new songs (those after the split) recently. They still have three of the original members; Hayley, Jeremy, & Taylor. They have a new album, self-titled. One of their latest releases is Ain't It Fun. I like it. It's catchy, and kinda reminds me of Fences. When I listen to it, it's like listen to the old (complete) Paramore. :) I do wish all of them the best. Hope this helps.

Bullying really sucks. So sorry that you've been dealing with this! I'm 36 and I'm here to tell you that things will get much, much better. When life is sucking, remember the seasons and remember yourself at different ages: everything is temporary, everything changes. Bullies will fade out of your life and you'll be so engaged in your new life that you'll hardly think about them. If you live authentically--being yourself and putting yourself out there for the world to see even when it's hard--you'll get the most out of life and always see a way forward in tough situations. Good luck! It gets much better!

Lyrics I can't make my own decisions Or make any with precision Well, maybe you should tie me up So I don't go where you don't want me You say that I've been changing That I'm not just simply aging Yeah, how could that be logical? Just keep on cramming ideas down my throat Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh You don't have to believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back Or break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror If God's the game that you're playing Well, we must get more acquainted Because it has to be so lonely To be the only one who's holy It's just my humble opinion But it's one that I believe in You don't deserve a point of view If the only thing you see is you Whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh You don't have to believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back Or break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror This is the last second chance (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm half as good as it gets (I'll point you to the mirror) I'm on both sides of the fence (I'll point you to the mirror) Without a hint of regret I'll hold you to it I know you don't believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back Or break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror I know you won't believe me But the way I, way I see it Next time you point a finger I might have to bend it back Or break it, break it off Next time you point a finger I'll point you to the mirror

I literally listened to this song growing up and the message hits so differently to me now, especially as an Artist. The words are deep. I wanna cover it. what a masterpiece.
@Alastar3 жыл бұрын
@Tristan It is a song that could mean different things to everyone. As we develop as humans, there are different time lines, habits, etc. Which lead people to be and act how they want. What you can and cannot do, changes. So there is bound to be miscommunication within different age groups (or any group you belong to) and civilizations across the world for example. But when you think your way of life is the only way to do life, without wanting to expand and be open to different point of views and you lose compassion/humanity, and act like God, it's asking you to look at yourself deeply and understand that there is a way where you can be understanding and still have your views but not to lose your humanity. But also to understand that you could be on "both sides of the fence". As IN you're only so strict about your POV because of your lack of self reflection. (hence the "I'll point you to the mirror" part)
