I think the reason this album is so good is that it's cohesive. All of the songs have a similar theme and sound that connects them. It's not a crazy mishmash of songs that don't go together, which happens a lot.

Listening to the album for the first time, I thought this was the only song without depressing undertones in its lyrics and thought this was pretty much just a love song. But I looked at the poetry that is Hayley's writing and found what it's saying: she's in a relationship that hurts, one that makes it hard to breath ("with no air in my lungs"), but she's so in love that, despite knowing it isn't good for her, she doesn't care (like diving "headfirst into shallow pools"). "If I survive, I'll dive back in." Man, I'm so in love with this band, especially with them talking (literally) about their hard times before the release of this album. Turning pain into poetry. Breathtaking.

Hard Times - 80s pop funk vibe/new wave-ish. cool. Rose-Colored Boy - 80s pop. Fun song. Told You So - 80s pop funk. cool Forgiveness - RnB-ish sounds like Pmore and Boyz2Men had a baby. amazing. Fake Happy - defo 2000s pop rock with a little indie. amazing 26 - In the Mourning + Disney = this song. emotional. Pool - a 90s Still Into You. I love it. Grudges - Owl City + Paramore. amazing Caught in the Middle - Red Hot Chili Pepper with a mixture of ska-rock. Love this track. Idle Worship - Late 2000s pop + Anklebiters No Friend - Sounds like Misfits, MCR, and Pmore had a baby. personal fave Tell Me How - Pop/RnB

This is one of the best songs from the band, the melody fits so much the tittle and the lyrics hurts like hell if you have been into that position, but also brought me so much relief when I was going through those dark times in my last relationship, this entire album for me is how depressesion hits, the lyrics are always heavy and dense, and the melodies always bright just like a shell hiding the truth

I think this is about the ups and downs in the relationship with Chad (they weren't together during the first Parahoy in 2014 and the song 'The sound of two voices' by New Found Glory talks about unfaithfulness: "My heart seems to fail me - It put me in a stranger's bed - It hurt who I love the most) and it breaks my heart.

You're totally right, maybe these lyrics are not related to Hayley whatsoever! this is just my own assumption ;) Chad Gilbert told Alternative Press the story behind the song: "The song is about thinking more and knowing that maybe what we think we want for ourselves isn't always what's best for ourselves. Being vulnerable to your weaknesses. Not being afraid to have limitations that are good for you."

Tayde Rivera Tayde Rivera actually this song relates to Proof "Come up for air just so you know we won't drown" Hate to see your heart break is about TYork. Proof and Pool are about the asshole Chad Gilbert. Hayley wrote Proof to show the world that she & Chad are totally okay with each other. And then he treated her like shit so that's why we have Pool.

Whenever I listen to this, I have a vivid image of a music video in my head: It's really dark Hayley longingly interacts with a fishman from the docks, and dives in to swim with him everyday, she sees it as romantic and playful, and it goes on for a while. And then as the song goes we start seeing flashes of the truth. The fishman's "lovingly" swimming with her is him trying to drown her. Then we see the last time she swims with him, he succeeds in dragging her under, and then at the end we see Hayley with a leg and arm tied up in kelp at the bottom of the sea with the fishman swimming around her. It symbolizes how Hayley sees the relationship as beautiful and romantic, but it's actually dangerous, abusive, and harmful, and the end shows what happens if you can't get out of a toxic relationship before it's too late. Idk, this is just what I see in my head when this song plays, and I'm glad I finally got it written down somewhere after keeping it in my head for 2 years. Lol

Thank you Paramore, for this album. Whenever I get depressed, I listen to this album. This album makes me see the truth that the world isn't perfect. You just have to survive, that's all that matters. Nothing else really does. This album really is a work of art.

some stuff the first 40 seconds reminds me of - walking home from school on a sunny, yet not cloudless afternoon with your earbuds in, walking through narrow shortcuts, you're alone bc your friend lives in a different area and split up from you a few streets ago, everyones walking past you but not looking at you - stepping outside of a building after a while of being in there and the cool wind hitting your face for the first time - hearing thunder rumble and feeling the first raindrop hitting your face on a particularly blue evening when you're standing next to the door in your garden, the wind starts up, your wind chimes tinkering together - sitting around a (you guessed it) pool at a party on a clear evening, your only friend has gone to talk to a possible crush or some other friends they're closer to, you headed outside for a breather but theres people there too, you sit in a corner, but as you get up to leave, someone knocks you into the pool while running past, you gasp, eyes wide as you fall in, staring up through the thick water at the slowly darkening sky idk if this seems pretentious but it's just how i feel, basically the instrumental for this is fantastic to write with! 🖤

I just found this album in September 2019. I'm in love. Describes everything I was going through in 2017 when it came out.

@@Jourmand1r they weren't even being creepy, I agree that people should respect boundaries but all the op was doing was caring about a person they look up to.

Man like you get hit with nostalgia with those first few notes being similar to *Ain's it Fun* and then it completely transitions into Paramore's new music style. *and I love it*
