I’ve written the script in my head… she is a girl from Youngstown Ohio who gets a scholarship to Yale for dance and theatre. She meets a Prep School guy while at Yale and they date and develop a relationship. Graduation Day comes and he tells her that it’s not going to work out. They are from 2 different social classes. She is devastated and doesn’t know what to do. She goes to Vegas to find some kind of theatrical gig. Only to end up as a maid while looking for a Real Job. He’s a west coast tech guy who went to SDSU… has no girlfriend. And is in Vegas for a tech convention. They get together and have a great time. But he goes back to SF and she goes back to her job. He comes back a year later for the conference and looks her up. She has a job choreographing Vegas shows and has found a happy place. They both agree that there is something there ❤️. He moves to Vegas is able to work from home and they live happily ever after. I LOVE this Video. if you can get a scriptwriter to buy into this idea. Let me know 👀Sorry but I have been thinking about this whole idea for a long time

I actually really like this music video. It feels genuine. The girl cleaning at her just-over-minimum-wage job, then her going home to her post-college life apartment feeding her cat after the night shift, flopping on an unmade mattress. Meets a guy and does something completely unroutine for a once in a lifetime fling, finally enjoying what everyone around her does every day. It just feels down to earth

Dear Brandon & The Killers, Every time I hear this song and watch the video I’m amazed at how you are consistently able to capture the feelings and emotions that encompass growing up, young love, and the human condition of wanting to be desired. Your music has been at the top of so many lists but still underrated in my opinion. From music video production to amazing songs that energize, make you want to dance, and sink deep into your soul it’s amazing what the Killers have become. I hope you understand how appreciative we all are of music you’ve given us. You’ve captured the heartbeat of the middle class person and shined the spotlight on what is really important. Far be it for me to say but you guys are to this generation what Springsteen was to the 70s and 80’s. I’m not sure how the magic comes together when it comes to the Queen’s, The Tom Petty ‘s, or the Dire Straights of the world .....perhaps the music was always there and it was just waiting for you guys to find it, but I’m certainly glad you did. Thank you for everything. Love and best wishes.

Here in June of 2024 cause the Killer's debut album came out 20 years ago now. And I am in denial. They forever sound like nostalgia and promise and youth and all good and bad that comes with it. In reflection, that time of my life was hardly great, perfect or better. In fact in some ways it was much worse, I was simply younger and thus "cooler" but societal standards. Yet I was struggling. But artists like them, were a lifeblood and make you appreciate life in and of itself.

I will never forget this night. My first and last shift bartending in LA started with me getting fired for mediating a fight ended with me skinny dipping in a pool in Beverly Hills, philosophizing and falling in love with the girl I stood up for, a French super model who was in town on her last night. We we're both 23, so different but exactly the same. She was so humble and so incredibly smart. We talked about life, love, death and made the most intense love. We fell asleep in each others arms when the sun started coming through the bedroom window. I drove home blasting this song with no money, no job and totally smitten knowing none of my friends would ever believe me. This was 2 years ago tonight and I'm seeing her for the first time again in December. We both admittedly fell for each other that night. She just broke up with her Red Bull racing boyfriend and I just broke up with my wanna be actress girlfriend. Time has a funny way of working. I'll never forget that shot in the night.

Could be made up, but then again it's LA so it could be real. Though that introduces the question of the LA mythos and how much of that city is about creating stories and identities. So really, though a story in a KZbin comment about an adventure and romance that happened one wild night in LA is as true as you want it to be.

I'm fighting back tears as this song is a stark reminder to cherish your interactions in this journey called life. This takes me back to 2014 when I worked at the US Embassy in Mexico and lived out of the Sheraton next to it. Most nights were spent staring at the Angel of Independence statue feeling as if was almost staring back at me. I met a girl who looked past my stoic introverted ways and would drag me out of my room even if I resisted. We'd listen to live music, attend quaint coffee shops, and her infectious laugh would stay with me as I smiled myself to sleep. In a serendipitous moment I heard a familiar voice inside a Starbucks poking fun at a guy's accent, and coincidentally it was her. She was caught red handed as I was the guy she was poking fun at as I turned around to meet her eyes and we laughed hysterically. This song reflected us ruling the night and her shining a light into my soul that I haven't felt in some time. Brandon overlooking Las Vegas almost mirrored my nights looking out at the bustling streets of Mexico City. This and "Miss Atomic Bomb" were the soundtrack songs of my life at the time and she defined those memories. Tragically she passed away May 12, 2017 after getting hit by a car as she rode her beloved scooter to work. At first I saw a new selfie she uploaded to her Facebook, not knowing it was her family mourning her. I was in total shock, so much I was prescribed Zoloft for the first time in my life. I realized I was actually in love with this woman given how much I've guarded my heart ever since. I still remember her singing songs to herself and again that laugh that laugh that both haunts and soothes me.

What a touching story to read!! I understand your sorrow must have been and/or is overwhelming at times. It might be hard, but maybe try to think of her as your guardian angel (like the statue you watch). She helped to open your heart to someone. Now it’s open and hopefully healing/healed somewhat…to allow you to move to another stage of your life. Remember her and smile for the ways she helped you to become who you are. And be ready when she sends someone special just for you.

Again, Brandon has written another simple poetic masterpiece, and yet another triple entendre. (at least). It looks like a song about gambling, which it is, but it could easily be read as a gamble made by a young couple on each other, who are struggling as the both grow up and move back to where they grew up, or the gamble The Killers made to go to England and take a chance, and are still struggling to live back at home. "We're breaking all the rules To find that our home Has long been outgrown Throw me a life line Cause honey I got nothing to lose" Brandon taking his own unique experiences, and penning a beautiful memorable song that goes along perfectly with their Vegas, take a shot at glory, roots. And he finally settled and ended up back in his Utah home roots. Why this haunting Vegas song is now a staple at almost every Killers concert.

Honestly so in love with this music video. I love how she feels like she doesn't know where she belongs because she's still trying to figure out who she is and maybe she's a little afraid to be herself because she isn't sure she would be accepted. And then she sort of meets him and he just helps her find herself and they have this great and rare connection. Or at least that's what I hope happens. Either way, love The Killers. When this song came out I was living in Vegas, living like that girl. It's not about where you are. It can be even worse if you're in the party zone and yearning to make friends and have a social life...which is what this song is really about. It's not about a vacation. He's a big fan of The Smiths. This was most likely inspired by There is a Light that Never Goes Out. Same theme.

No.. hes touched by that part of the past that we all long to keep with us that nostalgia and the hope of the future we all want ... his songs all carry That feeling of what we need to feel but can rarely find its why we love his songs... killers music is like a drive through the desert at night seeing stars with it playing on the radio with your loved one in shotgun... but the realtionship feels like its at the end and your able to accept it... but it wont ever stop hurting you... all that plays is the radio and as the stars shine down you start to find peace in the fact you need to move forward with your life even if the past carrys your pain
