The last song, Thick Skull, is really her addressing all the rumours of how she used/abused her friends for fame and the nasty reputation she gained over the years. This album is the final one for the contract she signed all those years ago, when she was a teenager, so with the final song she wanted to put to bed rumours and speak out about how she looked "red-handed". I agreed with how you said the end of the album sounded more settled and optimistic. It really feels like she's self-reflected and come to a healthier place through that but I think with this context the last song seems less out of place and more like her finishing this journey with a full stop.

the backing vocals "she's always running out of time" remind me of 50s and 60s music where it was quite common for the backing vocalists to talk about the lead singer in 3rd person, it makes me laugh

Love your videos!! You're so insightful! In Liar, she's talking about lying about the fact that she loves him. She's been hurt so many times before and hasn't experience the love he's given to her so she's trying to deny it by catastrophizing it. But he knows she loves him and still loves HER despite her fear.

Thick skull is about her reputation and the things people would say about her in the context of paramore. It’s sarcastic in a way.

My Top 3: 1. Figure 8 2. Crave 3. Big Man, Little Dignity This album is just so refreshing to listen to, tracks on this album is very interesting. And I love Hayley's vocal ability, her range is so amazing ever since Brand New Eyes I've been a fan.

Really love the way you react to the song fully and then revisit the lyrics for a deeper dive. That's how I listen to music too

For me Big Man, Little Dignity is about her ex husband. Him being able to move on, re marry and come out smelling of roses. He gets to cheat and yet gets a happy ending

it's definitely not about him. she closed that chapter of her life in her solo album, specifically with the song dead horse. and yeah, while it might apply to him as well, it's not like he was the main focus, and it's definitely not like he had such an amazing life after being with her; he was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years later.

Crave is such a good msg. When we look at our past we tend to look at the bad days but it’s good to crave the good days too . Remember the good times

I started watching and I was like oh, he basically speaks my mind. And then we went to Big Man, Little Dignity and you said "Sounding bit Bjork" and that was my thought about it all the way since i heard it. You are me now. Enjoy.

I see Blue Weekend on the wall behind you... did the final chorus of Thick Skull remind you of Wolf Alice too? The slow tempo, wall of dry guitar sound, and high wailing vocal over the top...

Also in Big Man Little Dignity it’s about her ex who abused her for seven years before she left.
@canniloni Жыл бұрын
it's about men in positions of power in general. she's been done with her ex since dead horse.
