I admire your ingenuity and approach to this concept, I'm loving the comments below of all those who have thought of this and even developed their own ideas. I would love to see SIV simulations and get more data. Well done dude

Nice work. I have been wondering when someone would develop a system like this. Coming from the skydiving world I felt this was a normal progression for the paragliding and paramotor reserve system. Can't wait to see v. 2 with a single point cut away.
@glydrfreak2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the positive feedback! I’ve got routing complete for a single point cutaway and I’ve flown with it a couple times. The only release cable housing I was able to get ahold of had to be spliced together to make it long enough. During one of my flights the housing came unspliced and prematurely released one side in flight. Super glad I have the safeties engaged while flying low. Since then I’ve fixed the issue by making a way stronger splice.

So far as I’m aware, I designed, built and marketed the first similar system for parachutists in 1974, released the copyright in 1975 when I realised if I didn’t, people would die needlessly. Well done. Are you aware of the Ballistic Reserves used by Fresh Breeze?

That’s awesome man! And yes I’m aware of ballistic recovery systems. My grandpa used to fly with one on his hang glider back in the day

I really like this concept you’ve put together. I don’t know if the swing arms or comfort bars are rated for that kind of shock loading. They’re great under normal circumstances for flying but the sudden jolt of the reserve opening might be too much loading on them. Is it possible to route the cutaway reserve to the shoulder harness attachment points like normal reserves are mounted to?
@glydrfreak Жыл бұрын
Getting in and out of the harness with them fastened to the shoulders would be more tricky, but I’m on board with trying that shoulder hangpoint since the way I currently have it results in a very reclined landing position making it hard to stand up the landing
@DAVINCYGLIDERS_PT6 ай бұрын
The right thing about this concept is that you can land. 1st safely 2nd without damaging your material 3rd without suffering any physical damage.
@henleysyweart3 ай бұрын
Good point! Time to start making swing arms and comfort bars so they can stand the sudden jolts of safety reserves. This should become a standard in the design and manufacturing of these Paramotor rigs.

Looks nice... like most things in theory. The Powerpara mostley fly low over ground and You dont have all that time (height!) to deploy. With non-cut -off the leftover od para still brake you and the deploy is life-saveing on lower flight.... no future, sorry !

This is designed for acro flying only, not for low flying. Acro takes place up high
@Crow91103 жыл бұрын
I know this is prototype 1, what would you do if you had a speedbar attached. are you looking around that as well, great work
@glydrfreak3 жыл бұрын
I don’t ever fly with speed bar especially when I’m doing acro with a cutaway. However, there are automatic systems that release the speedbar line when you cutaway. I just don’t like the complexity and it’s one more thing to potentially fail.

Wow…nice. Is this available for a real paramotor that’s not a flat-top??
@glydrfreak9 ай бұрын
I currently use it on my sp140. It’s not available to buy, but if you have the knowledge to build this system, then that would be the safest way to own and use it. I don’t like the idea of people being able to purchase and trying to fit it to their own unique paramotor having little knowledge of how it works. There’s lots of stuff to preflight and lots of stuff that can easily be misrigged.
