My school actually allowed me to fly a paramotor to school, it’s only like 10 miles away and it’s a lot of fun landing on the football field. Because my school isn’t around any city or hazardest area. I Just got a paramotor this year and I got inspire by you, thank you 🙏

At my school there’s a huge rugby pitch about a 1 minute walk down a hill from the main building and I want to get into paramotoring so if I do I could ask the school if I could land there and have a cover that I could put over the paramotor!

@@salazamI disagree. A bigger buzz kill is somebody who feels the need to talk shit to someone who's being supportive to someone else. Negativity is always a bigger buzz kill than support. Maybe look in the mirror and figure out why you have this need to put other people down to make yourself feel better. It's a lot better to be a nice person than to be a dick but I guess to each their own.

Heh, yeah I've been riding motorcycles for 30 years, playing flight simulators since MSFS 1.0, and have watched all of Tucker's videos. And when I went to AviatorPPG in Feb 2020, I got exhausted and bruised from all the work kiting the wing and carrying the motor which is heavier than you think. The general consensus of the class was we thought Tucker was good before, but after learning how to fly ourselves, Tucker is like the Tony Hawke of paramotors. It's like you can't appreciate how good an American Ninja Warrior is until you see a Regular Joe try to run the course.

I've recently 'soloed' on my paramotor (I have about 1.5 hours so far but am still being trained) and found your channel not long ago whilst looking for extra help to understand and improve on my skills. You make some very important points in this video, especially regarding effort. Do not - DO NOT - underestimate the physical work required, especially if you're older like me. In particular, the initial ground training is punishing so you need to be in reasonable physical shape. Imagine running into the wind pulling a parachute whilst a lawnmower is strapped to your back and you wouldn't be far off the effort. Now imagine doing that over 100 metres, gathering everything up and then doing it again. And again. I'm 49, in average fitness and this has been tough. Many would-be flyers of my age, certainly where I am in Spain train straight to trikes for this reason. With regard to equipment, I would add only the following: go into training with a budget ready to buy your own equipment towards the end of your training. Once at the stage of flying a few times, you'll know whether the sport is for you (my instructor charged 50% of the course initially, followed by the other 50% once you get to solo to allow you to change your mind if you decide it's too much for you) but you can spend the tail end of your training actually on your own gear, plus the instructor will help ensure it's set up and balanced for you correctly. In my case, the instructor being roughly the same size and weight as me, he test flew the set up for me. Your comment about previous skills - in my case, being a former solo glider pilot - are so true. Apart from coming into PPGs with a good knowledge of air law, everything I thought I knew just didn't apply. You learn from the beginning like everyone else. Thank you for your superb and inspirational videos.

Out of curiosity: which regulation and rules discouraged you from doing it?
@robkuijer9273
@robkuijer9273 2 жыл бұрын
@@bepowerification noise abation rules make it mandatory that at all motorized aircraft keep to a minimum altitude of at least 150meters. 300m in nature reserves. Combine that with the crowded airspace that usually starts at 500m and your not left with much space to fly. Low flying always seems like the most fun. In addition take off and landing is only permitted at ultralight airfields. So flying to McDonalds isn't allowed either.😔

Another great video, Tucker! To all your viewers: Tucker makes PPG look easy & effortless because he is a skilled and knowledgeable pilot with YEARS of experience. Do not expect to fly like him until you have YEARS of experience as well. Put in the time and you will get to be that good, too! Hey tucker love watching these "what to expect" videos! They're SO on point. I have official training lined up to start in February. I bought a BGD Magic Motor at an instructor's suggestion and I've been doing kiting and ground handling on my own with their input on my videos. This sport is so unlike anything else, and I've flown helicopters... It's definitely a totally new skill set. I know people can and do pick it up on their own, but I wouldn't try it.

I bought a 2nd hand intermediate paraglider back when Tucker did the beautiful Iceland videos and was super keen to get into the sport. The intermediate paraglider is great for ground handling. The wing gave me the opportunity to learn ground handling and I'm confident I wouldn't be lagging during training and enjoy it more. I was hoping and still am hoping to do tow-ups with the boat but it's beyond me and my friends. Too many other hobbies for now but thanks Tucker and others for bringing us along for an awesome ride!

Years ago, I signed up for lessons at a supposedly "respected" school in North Carolina. They gave me a substitute teacher who was worse than a used car salesman. During the ground school, he kept on pushing me to buy all new gear before I did anything, over and over and over! I told him that I was not going to put thousands of dollars down until I tried it first. Keep in mind that I had paid several hundred dollars for lessons already. He then switched tactics and started pushing used equipment on me. By lunch time, I was utterly fed up. I firmly told him I was not going to buy anything at all until after I had done some flight time and that if he brought up me buying anything one more time i wanted a refund for the rest of the class time and that I was walking. He was incredulous. "You put hundreds of dollars down for lessons, you drove hours to get here, and you're just going to walk away?!?" "Yes. If you bring up sales at all, even once before I get into the air to see if I like it, I will walk away. Understand?" "Wow, yeah... I am just really surprised." "But you understand? Not one more time." "Ok." "Fine." "But I'm just saying you really should buy..." Mother Ducker! Finally tried again a decade later at a school in Michigan and LOVED it. Sadly, some medical issues kept going further... and to this day I am oozing bitterness at that first a-hole who stopped me from flying for those ten years when my body was capable of it.

One thing to maybe say to (beginner) wings is that the difference to more advanced wings is how they handle collapses and other turbulent situations. soeven if you consider yourself an intermediate pilot but are always flying during sunrise or sunset you may want to switch back to a beginner wing if you're flying in the middle of the day.

As a Paramotor Pilot I agree with Tucker when he says don't watch a bunch of paramotor videos and think you know how to fly. Although videos can help you get a good idea what its like flying, it is way different than you could imagine (at least for me). My Dad and Grandpa have been flying for a while and before I flew I learned a lot and got some kiting and towing experience with his extra wing Ive also been watching Tuckers videos for ever. Those definitely helped but training from a certified instructor is a REALLY good idea and I highly recommend. I learned a lot of things that i'm glad I knew before flying. Good Video Tucker!

started training october 2021, signed up for a 7 day course, got lots of ground handling, and some towing training, along with classroom. Unfortunately, the weather didn't permit me to get airborne on the actual motor, so I have to reschedule to finish the training. It' been a long winter.

Got your daily dose of 5G. 😂. All good advice. I’ve been through each of these steps over the last two years. I couldn’t get away for an intensive 10 day training course. But I was able to find great local training to learn on weekends and weekday evenings. I advise people to ask Paramotor schools if they offer a one day intro course. Well worth the money.

Yes I’ve researched. I’d love to do it but u for got about (really) step 1. Have plenty of money. Step 2 take the extra money you have and buy some go pros. Step 3 take the extra money and learn how to fly the device you have parked in your big garage. Step 4. Some more money for stuff you didn’t think of. Step 5 Do all that and realize you’re afraid of heights

Where I live, B.C. Canada, there is only one outfit training for a very large geographical area. There are very few PPG training operations in Canada because it requires a pilot (basic ultralight) license for both flying and training.

I'd love to get into paramotor. But I don't live in Florida anymore. I live out west in the rockies and... well yesterday was a slow day with wind at 16mph. Today it's at 27mph. We only get a few days out of the year when it's above 20 degrees and the wind is below 10mph.

I've kinda timed it well, I'm in South Australia and our first school opened last November (other states have had them for a while, training here is mandatory). Your comments on a continuous training course vs weekends do have some merit (I was learning to fly ultralights many years ago and I definitely did better when I was able to secure lessons closer together), however as the sport is still relatively new here, the instructors still need to work other full time jobs, meaning the 2 week course can only be scheduled once a year (and the dates didn't line up with when I could get leave from my job). So I either do weekend lessons once they start after the course (with an attempt at regularity), or wait until 2023.... Yeah, I'm not waiting :p
