Established Two-way radio communications with the Tower. Following instructions and clearances, I legally flew my paramotor into Ocala International Airport

There is a place that is near me we tried to fly and all the people were so unhappy to see us, i steer clear of those places, keep paramotoring unregulated by keeping out of situations that may be reported, however legal they are.

Fantastic video, I would like to see more videos like this. Too bad the airport guy wasn't a little bit more accommodating/welcoming... You did a very good job of following all the procedures as far as I noticed..

Great Video! I was out to fly at my place this morning also, calm conditions. I like how the manager said he is the airport, which is true. It's fitting that you played the maverick in this airport encounter. Thanks for the update on your career. I'm sure it's important to build up those hours.

I’m dealing with a guy like this but out of a small airport. I turned him into FAA and am currently awaiting the final determination letter. Hope to see you at bad apples. Great vids man. Keep it up.

It seems to be a problem in several places. I’m lucky at HVS, the airport manager wants us. All he asks is that we have an air band radio and make the regular general aviation announcements. But I e been told at some other airports that they don’t want us there. It’s not a problem yet, as I’m sticking to my closest airport, but sooner or later I’ll want to spread my wings.

As long as it’s a public government funded airport. No airport manger has the authority to tell you you can’t fly out of the airport as long as it’s a class E or G airspace airport. Unless the Feds say otherwise.

Surprised you didn't stand up for yourself after you got clearance. That guy doesn't run the place and can't do anything to you.

Roll of the dice. Some enjoy ALL forms of aviation, others only like certain forms of it. Good news is that ppg count as air traffic and the more air traffic a small airport has, the more federal monies awarded. I'm not sure the larger airports in restricted airspace, want us there. I can see their point. Ppg doesnt mix easily with high speed and high volumes of aircraft. I could hear the 'jeopardy' jingle as you waited for the tower to figure out wtf...

hah, yeah. I just gave it a random go. Was cool it worked out but I wont be trying it again. I can see it interfering with opperations of that scale

Nah. Not after the tower cleared you into the airspace and cleared you to land. I'd have had some reinforcing words on that fact for the airport manager. He looked more like an operations manager, than the full blown airport manager anyways. They (airport managers, along with the "policies" they orate) come and go... There is likely what? 200 operations on an average day during the week at KOCF? Maybe more on weekends. That's like 10 per daylight hour. If many of those are training airplanes doing pattern work (and they are), that may be as few as 3 or 4 airplanes in the pattern each hour and maybe one or two other departures and arrivals. Plenty of room for PPG too. Especially given the saftey provided by the oversight of the tower and your well done participation in that system. I think you handled it well, but when there's not uniform acceptance of the real rules or random enforcement of the "policies", it's frustrating. The Dunellen pilots "violating the airspace", is a totally separate issue. I would have been sure to inform him that their actions is NOT your responsibility. He should call either the FSDO if it really is more than an urban myth problem, or suggest he talk it over with the manager over at X35. Have him discuss it with those pilots, not toss it in your face as if you are guilty of something by type association. I would have been reluctant to accept transportation from him too. I would have instead opted for taxiing (or carrying) my gear to parking, (you know, to prevent any damage to your gear) just like any other aircraft that landed. Accepting his pickup truck ride, makes it seem like you "had to be removed" from the movement area, as if you were a hindrance or hazard, when in reality you were fully participating in the ATC system. Heck you could have even switched to 121.4 and participated with ground control to keep everyone informed of your intentions and movements. You certainly didn't need his "assistance", which you might have been able to tactfully refuse.

Does he meet every airplane that lands asking if they have an emergency?

I bet Ocala get's federal funds for their operation...which means they really can't prohibit paramotors unless they can prove to the FAA it is too hazardous...and the FAA has granted such approval...which is VERY difficult to get. You should check with the FSDO and see if they have been granted such permission to ban ultralights. If not, they can lose their federal funding if they try to prohibit you.
