I know I'll get comments about the horses.. I was nervous, first time alone, new field, two cars full of people watching. They ran as soon as I pulled the wing up. Next time, I'll kite first to move them on.

Good job man!... it’s great to see an honest account!... every days different and I’m sure lumpy air is more in the UK! Some days I’m fine with it others I’m more bothered it’s a head game! I find letting trims out a bit sometimes helps especially if hands off the breaks but as I’m from a Paragliding background I tend to active fly with my brakes?... still a learn curve for me but you seem to doing well!

@pimplequeen26 жыл бұрын
Bumps.... they are taxing! I did 15 years of free flight where on the whole, you are looking for the "bumps".... it did not translate to paramotoring as well as you might think. On a good thermic day, if I am close to burning out, I climb above cloudbase (or the inversion) for a spell of silky hands off air until the cold (or boredom) gets the better of me :) Its a must if you do any long xc flights (at least for me)

Awesome... and still envious of the landings! Top tip.. turn bluetooth off on the phone when not needed because the BT-S2 seems to send poor sound to the gopro when it's on (for me anyway) Also, I got a reserve bag with a flight deck on top... 2 jobs in one but i don't shut the lid, just velcro everything down.
@PARANOOB6 жыл бұрын
It's odd. I just tapped into the mic wires and wired directly to a socket I bodged into a cheap GoPro clone. Should be one-way traffic from the mic to the BT-S2, but somehow there's that buzz every now and then. I got a flight deck eventually (this flight was 7 or 8 weeks ago) and also repurposed a large camera bag for when it's my turn to carry the camping stove for cuppas. That bag is in next week's 2000ft engine off vid.
@TimPriestChannel6 жыл бұрын
Yep, when you're using Bluetooth. It seems to interfere but goes off a few seconds after turning off music or phone call. It's not terrible though and most will think it's just engine buzz. Xiaomi Yi? I popped a socket in one of those too. Not tried it with my new WaspCam that i got for £25 from TKMaxx with a socket in already.

So I take it your first wing is a Speedster? Damn, isn't that more of an advanced wing?
@PARANOOB6 жыл бұрын
Not at all, it's very safe. My friend struggled to get a wingover out of it. I can't do the swoop landings because it doesn't dive.
@damianmchale75435 жыл бұрын
Interested by your landing; 1st attempt landing aborted and then you landed 180 degrees in the opposite direction? How did you judge wind direction and speed or was it nil wind at ground level?
@PARANOOB5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! I was very new at this point... I attempted to land into wind, but the tight approach and small field freaked me out. I then landed at 90 degrees to that, so a crosswind. I would rather have the faster landing with lots more space. The wind was from my right as I landed, which is why my wing came down to the left.

PARANOOB I have that unit and would love to know how you did the mic mod..could you post a video sometime showing?
@PARANOOB6 жыл бұрын
Will do, I have some crappy footage of it. Basically I hacked a socket into an action cam, soldered to the mic, (as per a youtube tutorial), then spliced a 3.5mm plug and lead into the wires between BT-S2 mic and unit.
@577buttfan6 жыл бұрын
PARANOOB nice mate..i hacked a mic socket into my sj4000..i also have an sjlegend that has a Mic I'll have to experiment. The bt2 is a great unit. Keep up the good work and fly safe.
