Today's "famous riff" lesson is a special one because I am going to show you how to play ALL of the riffs in "Paranoid" by Black Sabbath, not just the main riff. :)
And what is also really cool about this Paranoid guitar lesson is that it is one of the easier songs you will run across.
In this video lesson I will break down each guitar riff note-for-note and demonstrate any specific techniques required to play them.
As I said before, I think this song can be played by beginner guitar players if they want to give it a try. Of course if you are a total beginner, everything will be challenging to a point. But, if you have any guitar experience at all you will probably find that learning how to play "Paranoid" will be a piece of cake.
That isn't to say that Tony Iommi's riffs aren't great, in fact some of the riffs found in "Paranoid" are considered to be some the greatest hard rock riffs ever written. It just goes to show you that simplicity can be extremely effective if used correctly.

Kyle Sterritt I’ve been playing guitars for many years and have used many mediums for learning songs. I’d say KZbin is the best because you can also watch the original artist playing the song just to double check.

That's pretty fast, you must have put some hours in, or did you already know how to play guitar? I just started learning guitar and it's been about 2 months and not close to mastering this, I can get the first 11 notes sometimes and definitely not 4 times in a row at full speed.

Here's a list of great, great sabbath songs with some truly EPIC guitar stuff which don't have decent/ complete tutorials on youtube yet: 1. Black Sabbath - complete song with epic outro solo 2. Electric funeral 3. Lord of this world (jesus christ why is no one doing a tutorial on this - what a great guitar song!) 4. Wheels of confusion 5. Supernaut 6. Sweet leaf (another riff that's a pillar in rock music but has no decent tutorial on youtube) 7. The wizard 8. St. Vitus Dance 9. After forever 10. Symptom of the universe (holy fuck, do i even have to say anything more!? somebody's gotta do a lesson on this!) It's a shame these songs have been ignored by teachers on youtbe because these are some of the greatest riffs/ solos of all time. Black sabbath is one of the greatest if not THE greatest rock/ hard rock/ metal bands ever. Another one is Deep Purple, also gets overlooked in the guitar lesson community. I mean, there's just so much to learn from these bands... Carl, you're the man! You have no idea how many guitarists you've helped on their journey to mastery. Thank you always! Hope you read this comment and do some of these lessons! I think you're the only one in youtube who does detailed, complete transcriptions. Now, THAT is what you call dedication!

One fact worth mentioning - the intro is swinging little bit - the third note is played little bit faster. You are playing this correctly but you skip that fact later during explanation.

Yep. If u watch Tony Iommi play (lots of lives on YT) U will see Tony play way high on the neck, 12th fret. That's how u get that thick sound. The 5th /4th strings aren't thick and aren't correct to how he plays the song ;)
