If I had to pick just one movie that freaked me out, unnerved me, and left me feeling unsure... it's this one. The effects are simple, but extremely well executed. No score just makes it scarier, as if it's truly "found footage." This film came out when I was 10 years old and I remember kids used to brag about seeing it as a show of how brave they were. Btw I didn’t watch it until I was 15 lol Also, there are multiple endings you could find on KZbin if you’re interested in watching.

The reason this first film worked so well is because it didn't show you the "creature". Nothing is more powerful or scary than what can be summoned by your own imagination. And this film used that masterfully. It gave you just enough to let your imagination run wild. The slow build up and rising tension did the rest.

Ginger, Dramamine, and sniffing rubbing alcohol will help with nausea! I have such terrible motion sickness I rely on a Scopolamine patch behind my ear every day- there are lots of tricks that can help. For shaky cam movies, I highly recommend Dramamine about 30 minutes before you hit play, and keep some Ginger Ale, Sprite, and/or rubbing alcohol nearby for bad waves. The second movie has a bit of shaky/handheld cam stuff, but it's a lot more mounted cameras so hopefully it's not as terrible (it's also my favorite).

I watched this movie for the first time a few years back on my phone in my room with the lights off and I remember almost throwing my phone when Micah was thrown at the camera at the end😂 Please continue the rest of the series🙏

Check out the movies Host(2020), As Above So Below(2014), and Insidious(2010). Also, all the other paranormal activities as well.

The ending crushed the theaters! I saw this before it got re-released and after. They way they improved it is INSANE up into DVD, it was like watching a live edited movie. There's at least 3-4 different edits of this film

Such a masterful little concept of a movie :D It ramps up SO GOOD and then breaks it's own rule about daytime being safe. I love it. That leg pull escalation was just top tier.

During it's prime, imagine if you guys watched this in the theater with other people and their reactions, you guys have to watch the sequels

Fun Fact : Producer Jason Blum of Blumhouse produced this movie because he regretted for not acquiring "The Blair Witch Project" at Sundance back in 1999 so he decided to produce this to make sure that he didn't make the wrong choice this time around

So glad you watched this. I'm sorry you watched this. Hereditary was more disturbing, but this film was put together so well and the scares were *real*

Great reaction! Shout-out to Tara for sticking with it. This franchise is the series that haunts me and horrifies me in the daytime. I saw the 3rd one in theaters and probably screamed for 80% of the movie.
