The part where they hear the shriek and the crash was the scariest, but also funniest, part to me because when they went downstairs and saw the chandelier swinging, I couldn't think of anything but the demon hanging and swinging on the chandelier and thinking, just before the shriek, "I have made a terrible mistake" then it shrieks, flies off the chandelier and hits the wall.

I am so excited for this series! Can confirm what James said about seeing these in theaters, especially in major cities. It is such a "group hysteria" experience, the waves of escalating, audible distress every time it cut to night were fantastic. At the screening I went to, several women in the front row couldn't even make it to the end before they bolted out of the room. I do think the later installations in the series fall into the classic horror trap of explaining too much, and the justifications for filming everything get more and more flimsy, but man they're such a bordering-on-guilty pleasure to watch.

Because we know Katie is a full time student, we can assume that their beautiful home was purchased by Katie's grandma Lois!! She's the one who made the deal with the demon Toby, for wealth and power she deals the first born male in the family(we find out in part 2 that Kristie's son Hunter is their family's first born male)! I feel this landmark franchise is finally getting it's just due in the Horror community as being a totally cool,truly creepy group of films that spawned hundreds of inferior copycat films since it's origin in 2009! This was so great!! I love it when people speak fondly of this movie. So many horror fans say its boring and I never got that. Even though I've seen the film a couple of times it still makes me feel uneasy and makes me want to keep checking behind my back just to make sure there isn't an invisible demon behind me. Absolutely love this franchise so this episode was a nice little birthday gift from you guys haha. Easily one of my top horror franchises, only really had one misstep, other than that the series is pretty consistently good and managed to find new ideas to implement to make each film feel distinct (be it the older look and fan camera of 3, the Kinect in 4, the very very different plot and setting/multiple settings of The Marked Ones, the surprisingly well done spirit camera in The Ghost Dimension). Anyways... 3 > 1 > The Ghost Dimension > 2 > The Marked Ones > 4 2 and Marked Ones are probably pretty interchangeable. It's close between the top 3 as well. I'd say overall the first is the scariest, certainly has the best atmosphere and consistent build up. 3 had the strongest scares overall though. Ghost Dimension I recall being really worried about specifically because they were "showing" the demon and I was surprised how effectively they actually pulled off what otherwise would have ruined it.
