I think this film is extremely underrated. It's a brilliant story and we all saw that work and effort the animators put in it, so I really think that it deserves more attention

There's a certain visual aesthetic to stop-motion that just can't be replicated with CGI. You can see that the characters have actual depth to them, and actually inhabit a physical world. CGI ijust isn't the same. Pixar is coming close, but they still haven't quite managed to get that same kind of physical presence that stop-motion gives.

Here, take this bag full of "Hard and Good Work" and eat it. You'll then understand what means doing a full-good work rather than a half-good work for laziness.

All this beautiful and time consuming work and now I can buy this movie for 5 dollars at 5 and below such a shame lol.

Yea it looks so crisp because they are just pictures not actual film. They used a Canon 7d for Paranorman.

Creo que de resina, o al menos ese fue uno de los ingredientes que mencionaron. Esqueletos de metal y piel y carne de resina.
@soviut11 жыл бұрын
You're full of crap. Like people who say you can't replicate the sound of vinyl digitally, while listening to albums that were recorded digitally. If you really want the same aesthetic, then just animate 3d models frame by frame. Done! I always love when people who are neither stop motion nor 3d animators chime in with their opinion about what they THINK they see. Hey, have you heard of psychic surgery? I hear modern medicine isn't quite to that level either!

JUST MOTION TRACK THE FACES! GODDDDD! It's like watching someone say they'd rather her heat their home with camp fires. "it's a lot of extra work"...Inefficiency for the sake of the dinosaur egos. Tell stories, don't push medium agendas!

Me realizing ParaNorman in Spanish means For Norman *insert surprised pikachu face*
@Matheus6488812 жыл бұрын
Actually I think it's cheaper than CGI. CGI animations tend to be more expensive, but it may be because most of them involve thousandas of characters and big action scenes that most stop motion films lack.
@RejectThePast11 жыл бұрын
Are you actually getting mad at someone for doing work? They can make movies however they want. If they really wanted to pump out a CG feature they could've. Now shuddup and let us appreciate the work.
@soviut11 жыл бұрын
I'll bet half the time you haven't been able to tell what's stop motion, what's 3d, and what's been fixed in post production. You'd be surprised how much "help" stop motion gets from the post process.
@OxyPox8 жыл бұрын
I didn't like this movie. I was surprised because I am apart of the Coraline cult. Very strange. But this is quite stunning.
@Sonoftutuchoppy12 жыл бұрын
CGI doesnt suck. Of course people can do a bad job at it, (as with all forms of animation) but its not the CGI itself thats bad. Laika themselves use CGI

@MissCephalopod11 жыл бұрын
I'm an animator and, y'know, I do agree that there's a certain choppiness and texture to stop-motion that just isn't the same in 3D. I feel that it comes from being forced to animate everything straight-ahead instead of pose-to-pose the way you'd do in 3D. The timing of movement in stop-motion simply feels different, often less weighty, but no less charming. That said, ParaNorman is a brilliant blend of both stop-motion and

Yeah, it has some impressive animation, sometimes I even forgot I was watching a stop motion film. Anyway, CGI animation may be a little more fluid, but I think stop motion's got a special charm to it.
