Great job! I'm in the exact same situation with a 3-yr-old and it can be a challenge to stay creative, especially with a wheelchair. We go to different parks (for variety), have picnics, go swimming, and take her to dance/gymnastics lessons. Thank you for sharing this video and being such an inspiration to others!

I noticed the Java Ride cushion. How do you like it? Any comparisons to the Roho and Jay offerings?
@ParalyzedLiving3 жыл бұрын
Hey Matt! I had both a Jay gel and severs ROHO hybrids before the Java. The Java has definitely become my fav bc I no longer have to worry about getting a flat, it’s lightweight and takes full pressure off my “butt bones” since I’m basically sitting in a hole. My body also feels more planted and stable than when I was using the other two. You may want to see if you can demo one through your equipment supplier. That’s what I did prior to ordering to make sure I liked it.👍🏼

I plan on getting more assessable tools, I plan on getting a “Whill” (It’s compact, flexible, light, great maneuvering capabilities) it’s under: $3,888. Will insurance pay for this? Is this something you have to be a cash payer? Maybe I can find one gently used. Ty for the information.

Does she understand that Daddy can't come on the playground with her? Or Daddy can't come downstairs with her? What is her reaction when she sees your leg spasm?
@ParalyzedLiving3 жыл бұрын
Yes she knows my limitations but she’s definitely used to them. She’s big enough to climb the park equipment solo when I take her without my wife. We even have a wheelchair accessible park nearby that uses ramps to get to the tops of the slides rather than stairs so I’m able to participate there. She’s seen me spasm and just says “woah!”

But I wanted to ask you a somewhat personal question about something I am struggling with tremendously. I don’t know if this is the place for it or the appropriate video for that matter. Do you have a personal email you wouldn’t mind sharing. Or a Facebook page or Instagram I could private message you to ask for your guidance in this issue I’m having. It relates to sexual frustration. Thanks a lot man. Hope to talk to You soon

If you can, let your daughter walk by the side of your wheelchair. Do not always take her for 'rolls'.
@ParalyzedLiving3 жыл бұрын
Actually we have been doing that more recently. We go for walks around the block quite a bit with her walking. The “rolls” are usually longer - like to the park which is nearly a mile away. That’s why I use the SmartDrive for those. Plus wheeling distances is very “jerky” for her so not having to push is a lot more smooth of a ride.

Julie was the little girl I knew who was next door to me. This is no lie...when she was 18 months old, she was kind of walking around the living room...and the mother (I forget her name) would note she always squatted in this one particular spot. So, she got a potty chair and put it there...took her diaper off and when Julie started to that place to squat...the mom would put the chair under her. The noise scared her at first...but the mom made a HUGE production out of it and it quickly distracted Julie so it wouldn't be a scary thing. Of course I know kids develop things one at a time when they are that young...so it was walking, potty trained, and THEN talking. Bryan, if she is clingy like you say she is...and she drops to the floor in the store because she is throwing a tantrum...I guarantee if you turn around and ACT like you are rolling away, she will get up and run after you...distracting herself. By the way, COVID is BS. It's germ warfare from a certain Asian country (who started the Spanish flu by the way). The country destroyed and over populated their land and they are just trying to get more.
