Yes you can but on bad day's if you need to vent or someone to understand i am hear. I can walk but have really bad moments and body does what it wants to at times and the fricken bathroom stuff really kicks you in the pride but definitely looked down the barrel of the gun 6 months ago 😏 gotta keep pushing forward!

I agree about the roll in shower. I'm a paraplegic T12 since 1993 and I use a bath lift in a regular bath. Once I'm in I lower it a bit so I can close the curtain . I thought about installing a roll in shower but will keep the old setup because I'm used to it.

I have watched a lot of your videos, they are so informative. I am looking for answers to situations that have developed with my husband. He's 55 yrs old and was diagnoised with Devic' Disease. With in 9 months he's gone from completely healthy, not sick a day in his life to loosing the use of his hands and now recently, unable to walk. He has bladder, urine, bathing, and sleeping issues. I just didn't know who or what to ask to improve his quality of life, bathing chairs, personal items and such. He can't get around as well as you. Not to get to personal, but do you have any info on a male catherder kit? Thank you so much for sharing your life with us. You have been so much more helpful than his doctors, who I feel are trying to protect us from the reality of his illness. We don't need to be protected, we need to be educated and informed, and you have done this for me. I'll be showing these videos to my husband as soon as he gets out of the hospital. Thank you again.

I have cererbral palsy. And yeah, bathing is one of the hardest part of my day. I don't have an awesome shower room like Brian so it's difficult for me to move around. I'm scared and one wrong move on my part, I'll fall or slip. Yet, God is good always. Like Brian, my arms support me a lot. I seem to figure out my correct movements when bathing. It works and hopefully, it still works until I get older.

I'm a paraplegic girl, and I had to learn all these in a hard way. But here I'm living now as normal. Thank you for these videos, there are many people there who want these kind of information to be more independed and content with their selves that they can actually do many things without help.

Just grabbing shampoo or holding soap bar is so frustrating. Putting soap bar in a sock helps and leaving shampoo bottle open out of water is handy

I would really love to learn how to transfer like that! I have CP and I transfer by getting up which I think is actually less handy than the way you do

I too hated getting bed baths in the hospital even if the nurse was good looking. I remember getting to the rehabilitation hospital and finally getting to take a shower and it was amazing! I was in the shower for easily 30 minutes.

Good day! My name is Maxim and I am also a wheelchair user. My wife and I are about to start building a house and now we are planning our bathroom. We loved your bathroom option and we would be very grateful if you share your bathroom plan or specify its dimensions.I would also like to Express my gratitude for your videos. They are very useful and informative!

Lapshinteam glad you like the vids! I don’t have the dimensions readily available but most wheelchairs need about 40” to spin a full circle. Some are more. Just make sure you focus on getting a house with a large bathroom and you should be set. I don’t have a ton of issues even in other people’s houses as long as it’s fairly spacious. The vid should give you an idea of the space I have. My chair is about 26” wide for reference.

I'm an OTA student writing a paper on hygiene/grooming ADL's for a T5 SCI. I was curious about when you undress before you shower, is that something you do in your bedroom, or in your chair just before your shower, or, once you've transferred and are sitting in the shower?
@ParalyzedLiving
@ParalyzedLiving 3 жыл бұрын
I usually undress from the bed since it’s easier to get my pants off compared to when I’m sitting down.

Have you found a padded shower bench that won't break in 6 months? Man I can't find any that don't suck 😭

You should invest in a commode seat. Makes cleaning underneath you much easier!
@DerickZ28

I don't know if that's the same as what I got but I use a raised chair, kinda like what older folks use. It's a tremendous help with everything.

Yep , for me Guardian shower bench with commode opening works perfect which extends from the bathtub , very stable and easy access underneath for better hygiene .

In response to your note at the end of this video i’m a T5 through T8 complete, 6 months from injury, So im paralyzed from the chest down, but i my core muscles i can use but we think because it’s at the level of injury my abbs also spasms like crazy (which when they do , I can hardly breathe which is kind of scary but after a minutes it goes away). In regards to Felt the same way This is the bathtub I’ve actually been in a hotel room and not my apartment for the first six months and I’m still going on seven months staying in a hotel and they only have a tub with the seat ifor disabled people. And I felt the same way about injury getting into it but then I watched one of your videos about three months ago and I’ve been putting my feet in first and transferring by lifting myself my body up in the same thing with my car that’s how you get in my car but wasn’t for your videos I wouldn’t be doing either so I really appreciate it

4:29: Why do you have to sit on a hard surface if you are in a tub...there are rubber cushions to sit on. To me that sounded like an excuse...you have to face your fears Bryan or you will always be afraid of the unknown.

I'm a T2 and I was fortunate to get a roll-in shower and use a shower wheelchair, but your video about the transfer is still extremely helpful! how do you go about cleaning your backside? like, are you able to pull up/ lean forward enough?
@ParalyzedLiving
@ParalyzedLiving 7 жыл бұрын
I just lean forward really far while sitting on a bench and it works.

Sua lesão é mais alta que a minha, mas eu não faço metade das coisas que você faz. Eu não tenho equilíbrio de tronco. A minh foi na T3 -------------------------------------------------------- Your injury is higher than mine, but I do not do half the things you do. I have no trunk balance. Mine was on T3
