Great video. Another way to make it easier (IMO) is to instead of using a fist on the cusion, grip the 90 degree bend (near the water bottle cap). This way you don't need the brakes on and you don't end up sitting on the hand you're using to lift.

I personally find it harder to do it like that in this chair but I do hold the chair there when transfering into a sports chair. I think it depends on what chair and cushion you have but probably should have mentioned that as an alternative in the video so hopefully people notice your comment!

I'm good with transfers by myself but it probably seems I'm more independent than I am as I do still need help with quite a few things. Can't really imagine living completely independently like some wheelchair users do
