The subject of this video doesn't apply to my non CVO but you really put out some really helpful videos on very timely subjects. Thanks again for your efforts!
@ITFZone9 ай бұрын
Correct, but what's interesting is the relays are in place on the non CVO's. Different version, not sure why. Also interesting the Harley has never offered the power locks as a P&A upgrade. I would love a physical button on the bike to lock and unlock. I always forget to lock them and have to dig my fob out. You can lock and unlock on the screen but the screen still has to be on.

Thanks again Tom. I have a new 2023 CVO SG. I noticed after my first long ride on her a month ago, I left the bike without a tender for a few days. When I went to start it, it was dead. I’ve had many bikes and was surprised that it needed charging. I’ve since kept a tender on it. I don’t think anything is ticking but I’ll pay more attention because of your video. Thanks again.
@ITFZone9 ай бұрын
I would really expect your bike to go many days without a tender. I have seen reports of 23's and 24's having bad batteries, dead cells. Worth doing this test and a load test on the battery before your warranty ends.

@ITFZone9 ай бұрын
Unless a BCM update corrects it I think this is the design. I was able to lower the sound with the cable tie BUT as the bike moves not sure this will hold as you have to get the pressure just right to make a difference with the noise coming from the relay. I agree, ANNOYING!

555 days..... I might divide that in 1/2 because you would have a no start situation when the battery is 1/2 depleted... It would be like a 10AH battery trying to start the bike.. But that is just a educated guestimate... Might vary a couple AHs.... But 275 days is still a long time... I think a freezing night out on the road would make a greater difference when camping or moteling it in 32d weather....... AGAIN great info thanx...

If it’s ticking there’s a issue with the bcm it shouldn’t be supplying any power unless your locking or unlocking take it back to the dealer

My name is Mark I’m an electrician I believe that Harley has to fix this problem, there is voltage being sent to that relay that’s why it is ticking you’re saying it is the BCM, whether it be an adequate amount or not to latch on the saddlebag, you are getting wear and tear on that relay And I’d like to know if that was supposed to be a momentary contact or a contact that is supposed to be pulled in all the time, most likely it is a momentary contact because it will pull it in close the latch, and then the power should go away so when I’m saying is that power or power should not be going to the relay unless you are hitting the lock button on your remote, that that relay should not be seeing any voltage or amperage until you hit the button, I believe this is a problem for Harley Davidson and they need to fix it

Yes I have tried to confirm on the 24's but I didn't get a great answer. I suspect the '24 CVO's would have the same setup. Possibly pull that side cover and take good listen, also would be great to confirm if the relay is the same model as the '23's.

@@ITFZone yea im gonna have to measure the draw when i lock the bags some time, lately ive been just manually locking it but the battery drained twice so far in the last couple weeks ive owned it, a couple stops at bars and locked my bags came out to a dead bike, stopped locking the bags with the fob and its fine
@ITFZone5 ай бұрын
To drain the battery that quick it should be easy to find the draw. I have to assume the relay is stuck and drawing the full 12v. Both of those relays are easy to get to and easy to replace. Cheap on Amazon but this would be a warranty item for sure!

This is a fixable issue. HD fixed my ticking problem by replacing the BCM. I posted what happened, but my post has been removed? oh well.
@ITFZone6 ай бұрын
Wow a BCM swap, I would think then an BCM update would resolve it. Sorry not aware of your previous post or anything being removed, I have never removed a comment on my channel.
@RedDevilinCali6 ай бұрын
@@ITFZone Not sure why it was removed, I didn't say anything bad. Just how it took 10 months for HD to fix, as it was difficult to diagnose. But ultimately they replaced my 23 BCM with a 24 BCM (at least that is what they told me LOL). My ticking was very loud and you could hear it from 10-15 feet away when ambient noise was absent. However, I did eventually have to call Wisconsen HD HQ to try to get help with the issues as the HD dealership could not fix it over 10 months; however that same day the dealership called later and said a regional expert technician was coming to and wanted to look at it due to my call to HD HQ. I took it in and he showed me the large parasitic draw with on a meter and ultimately convey that to fix it the BCM had to be replaced. In the end I am happy, but the ticking stressed my out for a long time, especially spending almost 60k at the dealership on the bike and upgrades...
@ITFZone6 ай бұрын
Ah, sounds a bit different that what I am seeing. No parasitic draw but the ticking remains. I will see if I can get my dealer to try a '24 BCM. Appreciate the update my bike continues to click! No issues as a result but I HATE it!
@RedDevilinCali6 ай бұрын
@@ITFZone Yeah, that clicking sucks. The regional technician showed me the meter and one of the saddlebag relays was continuing to receive a small electrical current and the other did not while the bike was turned off and he said neither one should be receiving any current. My clicking was loud to me and was becoming deafening over the months LOL. Good luck!!
