Every time I see Pat Parelli explain horse psychology I come away that much wiser. People who don't get it refuse to have eyes that see and ears that hear. It's a big picture that requires moving forward one step at a time. A Horse Never Lies.

This is my third time watching this series and I get so much out of it every single time. The Parelli program changed my mare's sometimes dangerous behaviors and we have a real partnership now. That was 10 years ago, and we've come a long way!

I love the thought about horse persons who see a horse and see a horse and get happy. Smell a horse and get happy. One morning my younger son and I were leaving work at Santa Anita where I taught horse handlers for licensing and did some free lance training of bad boy horses and did some grooming and my son was learning to be a licensed trainer........we were beat, and had to go home, get lunch, a nap, and be back to run horses in an hour......as we left, we saw one of the big professional vans drive in, and we both had that same joyful stare and started to laugh.........we even get that feeling from seeing a horse van after a hard seven hours of horsing around.

The reason most horse people struggle with horses is, most horse people have very little interest in horses. Their interest lies in riding, or in horse sports. The horse's thoughts and emotions are just an inconvenience to those kinds of people. Whenever the horse behaves like a horse, he gets punished for it. Most people don't even realize how much they are struggling with horses, because their horse behaves about as poorly as all the rest, so they think that's just the way horses are. This marvelous lecture is for the rare horse person who is truly interested in horses.

I love when the camera person first moves and the horse's head whirls around like, "Woah it moved! Did you see it move guys?"

Deeply appreciate Parelli and most of what he has to share. However, if taught to longe properly, you can drop the longe line and the horse will stop and face you. I knew a trainer very well who could drop the line and go answer the phone in the barn office, and the horse would stand there and wait calmly. Like any technique or tool, it is all in HOW it is done.

Thank you for your comment and we agree that there are many ways to teach things, but there is a major difference between lunging an horse and asking it to play the Circling Game. When lunging a horse, typically the pressure is kept on the horse by the use of a lunge whip, clucking to the horse to keep it going and you'll often hear Pat say "there's no better way to bore a horse than to have it go around in mindless circles. In the Parelli Program, we teach the Circling Game, where pressure is only applied when the horse is not circling and left alone when he is. This teaches the horse to think and have a responsibility to maintain gait, maintain direction, and look where he's going.

Kimd of hilarious that this guy Parrelli uses a different persona and accent depending on his audience. He ranges from British regent to a cotton mouth Texan.

This will be believed by anyone that doesn’t ride every day. It has some merit to it but how do you translate what the girl is doing to a good half pass in dressage? I get the point, horses that feel that they are playing do better, but free lounging might be overestimated in what it does for dressage, at least for dressage.

Hi Javier, It's not just believed, but proven. It's all about how to have dynamic conversations with your horse. Build confidence, improve harmony, and increase effort…by engaging your horse’s mind. There are many successful Dressage horses that have been trained through the Parelli method, including several trained by Gold Medal Paralympian and 4-Star Senior Parelli Professional Lauren Barwick. www.laurenbarwick.com/ And with your interest in Dressage, we feel like you would be interested in the upcoming Two Worlds Together Dressage Summit. This event brings together the world of Classical Dressage and Horse Psychology (Pat and Linda Parelli) to show how you can develop your horse mentally, emotionally and physically. You can see the event details here: www.parelli.com/dressage-summit-2019/

Is there any videos to the point of behaviour that people need to know about when someone knows little to nothing about horses as well as someone that is nervous with horses? Please upload easier content for people to understand as for me I have to go to other youtubers that I feel confident with what they are saying (ThinkLikeAHorse - man and AboutHorses - lady). As where I am going to uses your books and dvds to learn but really you need to sort out your uk base so people not fuck up and yes I am finding it hard being there as I know fuck all as well as being Aspergers person I not understand your content as you lock that shit away.
