Excellent 1972 Parent Game pilot classic gem, P.S. My mother {now deceased} did watched all The Parent Game episodes on Saturdays at that time in 1972!!

Wikipedia says that this show was a Chuck Barris Production. It was on the air in syndication 1972 to 1973. I was on my senior year at Katella High School in Anaheim. I don't recall seeing The Parent Game until now. Also, Wikipedia says Charlie announced the first 2 shows and Johnny Jacobs did the others. I have a CD recording of Inside Radio on KLAC Los Angeles in November of 1972. It was an hour long talk show about radio hosted by Don Page of the Los Angeles Times radio column. Clark Race of KMPC was one guest, and Page said Clark was host of The Parent Game but they didn't really say anything about the game or explain how it's played. Other guests in the group were Lohman and Barkley of KFI, B. Mitchell Reed from KMET, Tom Brown of KGIL and Dick Haynes of KLAC. Thanks Wink for posting this.

The music in the prize description is Classical Gas by Mason Williams. Produced by Mike Post (The Rockford Files).

The instrumental break from "MacArthur Park" -- the original Richard Harris version -- as a theme. Now THAT'S amusing.....

Love how they used Richard Harris's version of MacArthur Park for the theme song!

...which was. . . pretty much. . . the _ORIGINAL RECORDING_ of "MacArthur Park", no? Also, notice it was only used for the OPENING theme song.

Fun fact here in Australia the theme tune is also used for the idents for a commercial television network Network Ten in the 60’s and 70’s I assume

This is kind of like the 70s version of a game show from 1996 called Wait Til You Have Kids.

The black woman keeps interrupting her husband. Not even letting him finish his thought. So far, he has NOT, I repeat, NOT interrupted her. Lady, respect. Wait 'til he's finished and then you can have your say. If you can't wait that long, at least try to keep it stored in your memory bank until your time comes because I don't think they'll allow you to write anything down on paper. Folks, I know this is old but that's how I feel. I'm seeing this for the very first time.

Why did the first woman look surprised when the host mentioned she had a 4 month old baby? 😂 I know, I know, these are not real couples.

The problem is using an "expert" to establish what's right and wrong is flawed. The expert could be right or wrong we don't know, it's their opinion. That ended up being what happened on wait til you have kids, people disagreed so much with their expert her credentials were called into question so part way into the run they brought someone else in.

I agree than one seems wrong. At least find three and get a majority vote. I don’t suppose Barris cared much, though, about finding a scientific consensus.

Also he did local radio in Seattle on KVI 570 back in 1980, they were owned by Golden West Productions (Gene Awtrey) at that time.

The bickering seems annoying. A little bit when they get the question wrong is one thing, but constant back-and-forth just isn't entertaining. I guess this made it to air, but didn't last long. I can see why.

Supposedly this was for NBC but ended up being syndicated during the 1972-73 season.
