You can be somewhat angry at Liam as he knew what was going on and chose to do nothing. Sarah was younger than you and only now figured out what was happening. She was not at fault.

Liam was also a kid, he couldnt have done anything to change the parents behavior. Kids rarely have that ability.

OP has a warped view of their siblings. Talks about how they could have stepped in to protect them from their parents, but they too were under their parents pressure to live up to their expectations. And OP has the gall to be like, "I don't know if I can forgive them".
@Tarotlynx2 ай бұрын
She doesn't have the right to expect her siblings to defend her, but she does have the right not to forgive them.

Abuse has a way of warping ones views.
@chibalearns402 ай бұрын
@Tarotlynx to forgive is to imply the other party has something that needs to be forgiven. What did the other siblings do that warrants them need to be forgiven? They take part in the emotional abuse and neglect? Because they are not on the receiving end then they are guilty? Because the brother understood but did nothing and the younger sister didn't understand they are therefore both guilty and have to repent? So those abusive households that all the children are beaten, they are all guilty as well because they were there?
@blender44642 ай бұрын
@@Tarotlynxnot really. You can excuse her initial negative views because of her position but she's ignored them too. They had no strength to help her when they were struggling to help themselves, and above all that they were children and it was their own parents abusing them all. There is nothing here that they are to blame for, including being expected to fight their parents whom they were fully dependant on growing up.

Why do all these people meet at a coffee shop or cafe? Why not a park? Or fast food spot? Another thing why do they always be surprised about why someone who hadn’t talked to them in a long time or is relevant to the situation contacting them. ( I mean if they haven’t talked to you before the problem but reach out to you after. Maybe it’s about said problem)

Because coffee shops are quieter than fast food places, and in case a scene breaks out, it’s better than a park.

We got everything we wanted. We were favored and showered with attention. But it was so hard trying to be so perfect because being the golden child is super hard when you're giving all the love and attention in the world and your scapegoat sister is getting ignored and you're like super comfortable with it because you're afraid if you rock the boat you won't be the Golden child anymore. It's so sad man.." yeah no. Screw you guys 😂

Thinking back to my undergrad years… it was always the joke that the students who were actually in an education degree had an SAT score than the national average… which means they were dumber than the kids they were teaching. I’ve since realized that taking standardized tests is a teachable skill, meaning the scores depend on money, not talent. Also realized I was an arrogant asshole. And that arrogance lead me to bat outcomes. But also, the state of Texas was super short on teachers, so they came up with a program. Where they had previously hired Education majors, now one could get a degree in math or English Lit or whatever. Then you work as a classroom assistant for two years (so, basically a teacher’s apprentice) and get your certificate. And I’ll grant you that assistant teachers earn very little, when full-on teachers are competing against their own students for part-time minimum wage jobs. But they were so short on teachers, you were pretty much Un-fireable. That was the early 90s, so the landscape may have changed. Now you gotta be a marksman. Because the citizens trust teachers enough to want to arm them, but also mistrust teachers teaching biased history, and might fire them for a gay man with a picture of his husband on his desk where the kids might see it.

“… gave you everything you needed.” Did you, though? OP needed love and a sense of security. Also, what’s this about “for the family” shit? Dad had to make tough choices? Well, one of those choices was to disown OP. And it is a reasonable response from OP… she was the least member of the family, and the first member get tossed under the bus. Maybe it was malice or benign neglect, they chose to cut off OP. Behavior is communication. They communicated that they care for OP the least (or, at all). They communicated that they didn’t consider OP to be part of the family. If family takes care of family, they didn’t.
