Sadly, as frustrating as it is for us (and I am sure them as well), in this instance the county is looking out for Bella's best interests. This is because Peter's oldest moved back home now that he is in North Carolina again. The state requires every adult in a foster home to have background checks done. Bella has her respite housing she can stay at. Xay has no one but Peter, therefore Peter made the hard call to have Bella in respite instead of making Xay homeless 😢😢

For all of us millennials who grew up in the 90s and early 2000s, we all remember the Staples back to school commercials with the dad pushing the cart around the store giddyly with his kids looking not so giddy about going back to school with the Christmas carol , It's the most wonderful time of the year" playing in the background. And also the Office Depot BTS 🏫 🎒 📚📖 commercials mirroring Staples with rock star Alice Cooper as the back ro school shopping 🛍️ dad and his band's song " School's out for summer" in the background. By bsck to school, parents would've gotten any bts clothes out of layaway at Sears, Kmart, JCPenney etc and shoes would've been bought at Stride Rite ( for younger kids , i wore Stride Rite shoes until I started Kindergarten) Payless or Kenney's

My mother often had a major summer diy project and she spent that first week or two of school wrapping up anything not completed plus stowing anybof the left over supplies and materials while beginning on the laundry. Laundry begat going through the summer, winter, bedding, and all the things. As laundry was progressing she moved onto the pantry and kitchen with everything put into order and wiped down in preparation for the fall and winter cooking; plus clean all the corners we may have dribbled stuff during the summer. By mid September she was asking about Halloween costumes, cleaning, and organizing all the sewing stuff; she wasnt a daily seamstress but could do some amazing things by hook and by crook for Halloween. In between, she played taxi driver/ socceer mom, often put up at least applesauce, and tried new recipies; they were either but good or butt good but we ate through most of them.

From the comfort of my computer chair, it is just wonderful that your system, Bella's caseworkers, Bella's current foster family, and your family are willing and able to maintain Bella's contact with your family; and of course your utube family likes to see that she is alive and kicking too.

The initial reason in that all legal adults in the household have to under go a full back ground check does have some merit. At the same time it is also one reason why many kids who age out of the system end up homeless.

​@@peggyclio1199 parents buying school supplies for the class as a way to help the teachers to supplement what they buy out of their own money 💰 in the US has been a thing for the last 15 or so years if not longer. Teachers have been supplementing their supplies since the 90s, given that because school boards and districts have done so much budget cutting over the past 30+ years, it's ridiculous. My mom was surprised when she asked my 3rd grade teacher , circa 1990, why she had to buy classroom supplies, she told my mom because the school district didn't allocate enough funds to my elementary school and others in my area ( I went to an inner-city elementary school in L.A, my mom was one of the few parents that volunteered in my class, she was a SAHM , and while sone parents did have jobs, many just didn't want to volunteer) . My teacher told my mom on another occasion that she'd come from another elementary school in the LAUSD:( L.A Unified School District) and that she was shocked by the disparity between what her former classroom and school had in terms of supplies and what my classroom had. My former teacher had come from a school in a well known, oceanside predominantly Caucasian community on the Palos Verdes Peninsula. Also there had been at the time , news stories about some of the funds allocated for schools being "reallocated" to other district needs . It turned out those other district needs were school district and board higher ups playing Sugarbalers design firm (: reference to a popular sitcom , "Designing Women") and redecorating their offices.
