I am assuming the " reached out to Disney" comment was probably more about them trying to see if Disney would take any legal action. Which just goes to show they know nothing about the world of knockoffs, especially with the fact they reported that they had reported the pages to Amazon and Wal-Mart yet were shocked to see them listed up again shortly lol. * to continue the joke. We reported to the landlord of that building they were selling non legit dvds. We returned the next day to find a different person selling what appeared to be non legit dvds.

40+ year old here. Here's what happened. Younger x/older milennial women (80s kids) may have actually played these games when they were under 12. But keep in mind there was no internet yet, or any sense of what exactly was changed with some of these games. Most american children probably had never seen an untranslated japanese game. They didn't even really show those in gaming magazines at the time. When these girls grew a little older, they met Chad in middle/high school and games were for nerds. Maybe they still played tetris occasionally. Later, in their LATE 20s (tick tick) they magically decided that gaming was cool again. Which is why everyone expects these "girl gamerz" to know all this stuff, and they often don't. Anyway, that's why women like this one knew what Super Mario 2 was, but didn't get the memo about even comically low barrier of entry trivia like "mario 2 (us) -> doki doki panic (japan)." I don't think she was faking her knowledge of Mario 2. It's just deeper localization knowledge was something you'd only learn later in life post internet if you still had a personal interest in gaming as a hobby. So pre internet adolescence was her cut off for gaming knowledge from first hand experience. I can't speak for the other generations, nor (disclaimer) am I talking 100% about every last x/mil woman (please don't @ me). The observation generally holds as a rule, and any genuine exceptions only serve to prove it by being exceptional. But sure, mileage may vary. Usually does. Gen z was probably different. Idk.

While the console wasn't in a box, a closer examination would have made it clear it wasn't an NES Mini. That's not going to be the case for everyone, especially considering how widespread the knock-off gaming market is these days. It's easy to assume adults of a certain age shouldn't fall for it, but that's also assuming that adults of a certain age were invested enough in games to know the difference. Imma cut this mom some slack on the purchase; the news report was a bit much, but she's right to be concerned about the content.

We’ve all seen these online, especially Facebook market place, and even in person at malls or other stores. I would not expect for these knockoffs to have nudity. I definitely don’t blame the parents. This is why the ESRB exists.

surprised they haven't talked about some of the hentai puzzle games and "Hentai Golf" just flat out on the Switch download shop

My brother bought me one by accident for Christmas. I felt really bad for him because he was excited to get me something he thought I would truly enjoy, only to find out it was a knockoff product. However, we kept it anyways, and had fun with the silly games they had on it. It was an interesting present!

'I believe parents should pay attention to the games they give their kids...' No sh!t, Sherlock. Being aware of what media your child is consuming and what presents you are gifting them is part of being a responsible parent. Blindly giving your kid a SNES shaped box with over 800 games without questioning its legitimacy (hint: there weren't even 800 SNES games in the US market) then publicly whining about your inability to take accountability is part of being a karen.

when the parent first starts talking about it she said it was a gift. i know she did it for the 'wrong' reasons, "i wanted to play it first", but she still checked it first and then realized it was not what she was expecting.this feels like the kind of toy older grandparents would buy because its similar enough and they might not be super discerning, but hey they can get a toy they got for their kids for the grand kids too. the whole thing sucks (the situation, not the video)

This is why...parents...you check the games for adult stuff before you give it to your kid(s)...oh wait,im sorry..i forgot that you parents can be kinda dumb and act like karens some times
@CrocvsGator11 ай бұрын
Tbf, this mother said she started up the console before the son played it. And she said it was gifted to the family, so if anything, she's checking to make sure the product is appropriate....so that's being a good parent.

I feel like these people somehow had never come across a third party knockoff product in their entire life so just the fact that they saw it, went “Omg I remember that! Let me buy it for my kid, especially with how cheap it is!” and then when they get it and check out are so surprised that really thought to themselves “Yeah this is newsworthy” and didn’t even think to educate themselves at any point. You could ask any gamer, including the casual gamer, and they’d all say they know of knockoffs, but I bet if you ask someone who doesn’t like games or moms like that that they’d say something along the lines of no way, that can’t be real. Really shows how much people need to educate themselves, especially when it comes to older games

I would be too embarrassed to even buy this in a store. Imagine broadcasting it to the entire country saying you were defrauded simply because you feel stupid.

Title should be Parents Upset Over Bootlegged Console. Here I was expecting them to be upset over something like Earthbound. If I were a lesser person I'd call this clickbait.

IDK the mother seemed very reasonable, sure she bought a product the was obviously the wrong thing, but I don’t think she was angry at any one thing, more so trying to spread awareness to other parents considering buying Mini SNES for their kids, despite the fact that this is something the parents should’ve already been aware of.

I picked this console up, and even upon purchase, I knew it wasn't official in any way, but for how cheap it was, it was what I wanted for a travel game with games I missed. Not perfect, but something to do for the price of a fast food meal.
@toddfraser335311 ай бұрын
To be less reactionary (hence why I don't have a a big social media presence). I think the presence of adult theamed ROM Hacks vs the original ones is probably the biggest thing I think not everyone will pick up on. I think most people know it is knockoff product, but being sold on official channels via Amazon and Walmart does mean there should had been some basic quality control and review.

Parents completely to blame and should be jailed and when released they should be prevented from being amongst other children and people in general.
